A Live Digital Mixing System with Analog Feel! The Allen & Heath iLive digital mixing console system brings the A & H name into the world of live digital mixing. Long a legendary name in the world of analog consoles, the company's foray into digital mixing is characteristically classic and functional. The iLive digital mixing console system combines a powerful digital mix engine with the hands-on, familiar feel of a live console, and the amount of control and peripheral options is incredible. You get the touch of analog and the power and functionality of digital with the Allen & Heath iLive digital mixing console system. Allen & Heath iLive Digital Mixing Console System at a Glance: Rackmounted modular mix engine The familiarity of an analog console with the advantages of digital Easy-to-use channel controls, signal processing, and user interface The heart of the system The heart of the system is the iDR-64, a 19" rackmounting modular mix engine providing 64 channels into 32 mixes, which can be assigned as auxes, groups, matrix and main outputs. The iDR-64 is a stand-alone mixer comprising the 8-channel audio interface cards, DSP processing, and communication ports. The unit is controlled via an Ethernet network and can be connected to a variety of controllers, including Allen & Heath's PL range of remote units, third party devices, or a laptop/PC. Digital clarity, analog feel The iLive-112 control surface is designed to reflect the feel of an analog console. The 112 has eight local inputs and eight local outputs. The faders are motorized and grouped in three sections, each with four banks. There is a multi-color backlit LCD display above each fader for labeling and color-coding channel information. Under control Channel controls for preamp, filter, gate, EQ, compressor and limiter/de-esser are laid out across the top of the surface on rotary controls with LED indicators, while a color LCD touch screen presents a graphical view of the processing and access to the automation and set up screens. Sweetwater Expert Advice     "Having just used the Allen & Heath iLive112 console to record a live concert on location, I must say I'm impressed with the design of this console. While there are some technical limitations in its bussing, it is still FAR MORE FLEXIBLE than any analog console yet retains an "analog-like" feel which is imperative for live sound! I absolutely LOVED having a full array of knobs and meters for gates, EQ, compressors, de-essers, etc. on top of the console right in front of me. This provides easy and instant access with extensive feedback of the parameters I'm controlling. Of course, the large, color touch display helps too! With the modularity of the iLive console in both I/O and the amount of faders available, the iLive can handle any sized-venue or performance. But the best feature of all is without a doubt the sound quality, oh my the sound quality! The mic pres are quiet, very clean but with a little bit of punch to them. The compressors are EXCELLENT, but the EQ is just beautiful. It's a little quirky to configure the console but once your board is configured, navigation is fast and easy.
