Vox amPlug Lead Headphone Guitar Amplifier at a Glance:
Amazing tone in a tiny package
"Lead" is based on a U.S.-made high-gain boutique amp, further modified for lead guitar. It also contains a digital delay effect, delivering a huge, spatial sound that could not be previously obtained, and giving you a rich and full-fledged lead sound that you can play anytime and anywhere.
Analog circuitry, tube tone
amPlug simulates the circuitry of a vacuum tube amp completely in analog. The result is superior headphone amp tone for players who are particular about their sound. Vox was sure to take great care with amPlug's gain circuitry. The "Bass" amPlug gives you full-range tone and a built-in compressor/boost effect plus a FET buffer circuit. Based on U.S.-made boutique amps, the "Lead" amPlug includes a spacious digital delay effect for full-sounding leads. The "AC30" amPlug uses two natural-sounding gain stages to reproduce the distinctive AC30 tone. The "Classic Rock" model ampPlug uses four classical gain circuits to deliver that great sound. The "Metal" amPlug uses two stages of ultra-high gain plus a mid-cut circuit, giving you modern metal high-gain sound anywhere and anytime. Even the circuit response of the original amp is simulated completely. The simulation extends not only to the response of the tone circuits, but also to the way in which the high frequency and gain are affected when you turn down the volume control of the guitar. Every detail has been faithfully reproduced.
Get great tone anywhere
With up to fifteen hours of battery life, it's easy to take amPlug anywhere. In addition to being an ideal home practice tool, the amPlug provides a great way to warm up before a live performance, or on the road. by Jeff Cooley from Gulfport, MS. USAI bought this Vox Lead Head with the little Vox 3" speaker cab as a novelty. I thought it would be some fun. I play it through my Epi Valve Jr. and a 1 x12 cab, and this thing has all kinds of killer tones. The only problem is that it takes getting used to spining the knobs upside down since the unit plugs straight into the jack.
