Definately a PLUS
by Dennis from UT, July 2008
Music Background: 50+ years Musician, Sound and Recording.
I've owned units throught the years both VHF and UHF analog units known brands and off name brands and nothing compares to this unit. I immediately ordered 2 more so that makes 3 in my inventory because, I won't be caught dead without one now. When I bought the fist one I didn't even know it was a Line 6 product. I should have known. Some of the best stuff I own comes from Line 6 and now "the" best thing I own next to my guitar is this wireless unit.
I've worked in the Digital RF field for many years and for the life of me couldn't figure out why some company didn't come up with this earlier. It's not the easiest on batteries but, I'll suffer the price of a battery for the quality of sound.
I can't tell the difference from using a direct cord to the amp. Of course, I'm half deaf from all my years of loud music but I can still tell, at least at the beginning of the night that things are gonna be just fine in the sound department.
A real surprise

In what seemed to be the never ending quest to find a wireless that didn't suck the life out of my bass, this is at least the interim holy grail. Very simple to set up, quiet, and the dynamic range is fantastic. I happen to be a fan of the tone equation where there is some slamming of the preamp on the note attack, shades of Jack Casady, Phil Lesh, and a whole lot of others. This wireless allows full dynamics to come through. Upside is everything you do with your right and left hand comes through. Some might find it a rude awakening after being compressed and muffled with the usual wireless systems.
For me the transmitter case is a question mark. All plastic, but the plastic they chose (polycarbonate) was probably the smartest choice. The battery door is the only thing I get a sinking feeling might break on me. Who knows, maybe their design is smarter than I think.
Makes traditional wireless systems look pathetic

I'm using this product with a high-end boutique bass (MTD 535) and amp (Euphonic iAMP 800), and recommend it without hesitation. I tried the "traditional" Samson wireless product, and there was so much pumping and hiss, that it turned my pristine rig into a Sears Silvertone setup.
The XDS-PLUS worked immediately out of the box. No futzing with levels - it literally plugged and played. Zero hiss, zero pumping, zero distortion even at the maxed-out HOT level my bass delivers, outstanding dynamic range, and first-class build-quality.
If you're a pro and care about your sound, don't consider anything else until you've tried this baby. The XDS-PLUS may cost a few bucks more, but it is absolutely worth it.
