Finally, the on-site multitrack that has a built in REAL mixer! What a boon, I might go back to full-time location recordings, the X-48 has made it so easy. Wow, TASCAM does it again, a breakthrough in multitrack recording from the people who invented multitrack breakthroughs!!! Way to go TASCAM and thanks!

Having just used the Tascam X-48 on location to record a large concert, to say I'm impressed is an understatement! I recorded 44-tracks at 24-bit/48kHz (for timecode and video purposes) for just over two hours without a single glitch, hiccup, or issue. Back in my Pro Tools|HD3 studio, I connected my FreWire hard drive to transfer the session - again, it just worked. But once I imported the tracks into a Pro Tools session and listened back through my ADAM monitors...my questions of "well how does it sound?" were answered, and that answer was a resounding "TOP-NOTCH!

If you love TDIF as much as the engineers at TASCAM, you will love this box! You can even get analog, ADAT or AES/EBU expansion cards. This is a great soultion for those who want a solid hard disk recorder!

We installed this from start to finish in about 2 hours and it works like a charm. No drivers, no figuring out how to get software to see an external device for inputs, it just works. We use it to tra ... read more [+]ck and mix 32 channels coming from our tascam dm4800 (2 of them)via ADAT for our church. The volunteers love it because it is so logical and simple to use. Clean sound, even with DSP on more than half the channels. close [-]
