From Our Research Team:Play the Same Guitar Used by a Fretboard Legend! The EVH Wolfgang solidbody electric guitar is built to deliver the goods on any stage; that should come as no surprise, given that the man behind this impressive axe not only designed it - he put it through its paces every night during Van Halen's last world tour! Built to Eddie Van Halen's exact specifications, the Wolfgang gives you absolutely awesome tone, practical playability and comfort, and the kind of stunning looks you'd expect from a world-class guitar. From its high-quality pickups, hardware, and controls to its gorgeous, top-notch tonewoods, the Wolfgang is made to rock in style!EVH Wolfgang Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:
Road tested by EVH himself To say this guitar is "road tested" would definitely be an understatement! Wolfgang prototypes were put through a full year of brutal in-concert road testing by Eddie on Van Halen's triumphant 2007-2008 world tour. The result is a bulletproof and beautiful guitar that takes whatever you can dish out and then asks for more. As the VH tour roared along, Eddie changed and adjusted components and specs until he was satisfied with the Wolfgang's sound, feel and looks. To prove that it was battle-worthy and could survive the road, performance data was collected from every gig for months and months to establish and confirm consistency and durability. Built to Eddie's exacting specifications The EVH Wolfgang guitar is built to Eddie's exact specs and has every single feature of the Wolfgang guitars he himself plays onstage and in the studio. It's exactly what he uses. "Everything that I've built, destroyed, stumbled onto, learned and experienced is in this guitar," Eddie Van Halen said. "Every aspect and component of this guitar has been examined and upgraded to the highest standards possible-stainless steel frets, double-potted custom-wound pickups, five-piece binding on the matching body and headstock, custom-made signature tuning machines and Floyd Rose bridge, new low-friction pots, and the list keeps going. We left no stone unturned." Quality throughout From its basswood body and 1/2"-thick maple top to its quartersawn maple neck and beautiful birdseye maple fingerboard, the EVH Wolfgang just screams quality - and that's just the tonewoods! This gorgeous guitar is made for serious playing, with dual graphite reinforcement rods in the neck, a Floyd Rose #2 locking nut and EVH Floyd Rose trem (complete with D-Tuna), and hard-mounted EVH humbuckers. The controls are top-notch, too: you get a handy 3-way pickup selector switch and Bourns low-friction volume and tone pots for total control over your tone and volume. All the components come together to make a guitar that looks absolutely stunning and plays even better. EVH Wolfgang Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

ReviewsWolfgang Rocks!
by Bruce M. from San Jose, California
I've been watching the internet for months waiting for the new EVH Wolfgang to go on sale. Sweetwater was one of the first to actually have this in stock and I immediately purchased it.March 8, 2009 Music Background: Hobbyist ... read more [+] It's been about 2 months since I've owned this and it's my favorite guitar. The fit and finish of the instrument was excellent! The guitar arrived in flawless condition, setup, tuned, and intonated. The black finish looks great. The molded EVH case is rugged and has the EVH stripes molded in. The unfinished maple neck is smooth and feels great. My only complaint is that when I run my hand down the sides of the neck quickly, I can sometimes feel the edges of the frets. The pickups sound excellent. The bridge (lead) pickup sounds a bit hotter than that from my mid-90s Musicman EVH model. On a high gain amplifier like my Splawn Competition, I sometimes need to turn the volume down a bit. The neck pickup sounds a bit thicker and rounder than my original Musicman EVH. I can dial in that Gary Moore ("Still Got The Blues" tone with ease. I like the versability of having a tone knob. As an FYI, the pickup selector switch is intentionally wired BACKWARDS compared to a typical guitar (per Eddie's choice). Hence, to activate the bridge (lead) pickup, the switch is UP instead of Down. Hence, if you see any reviews indicating that the wiring is wrong, they didn't read the instructions. The volume knob is a low-friction unit which turns very, very, easily. The tone knob is not low-friction and feels like a standard potentiometer. As an FYI, the knobs on the volume/tone look like those from an MXR effects unit. I like how easily I can tell the setting by looking at the single-white line on the knob. The original Floyd Rose is great. For those not familiar with EVH-designed guitars, the Floyd Rose doesn't float. You can only lower the pitch of the strings (per Eddie's design). This design maintains more tuning stability. For example, if you bend a note hard, the bridge doesn't move like on my other guitars with floating tremolos. The guitar also comes with the EVH D-Tuna already installed on the big E string. The system works great. To drop the E-string to drop-D tuning, you pull the silver cylinder back, twist it 180 degrees, and then release. Unfortunately, the instructions don't tell you have to do this, but you'll figure it out. The great news is that it's already setup at the factory. The instruction manual has a few typos in it. In one section, it indicates the Wolfgang comes strung with 0.009 to 0.042" gauge strings. However, in another section, they reference 0.009 to 0.046" strings. I'm not sure which is correct since EVH offers both sets of gauges. The Fender website hasn't been updated so there aren't any tips on the EVH Wolfgang model yet (it's too new I guess). Overall, this is a killer guitar. If you can afford the price and find one, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Rock on! close [-] EVH Wolfgang (Black)
