No tempo control for presets? No midi? I feel as though I paid too much for it.from Atlanta, GA February 3, 2012Music Background: Home Recording Enthusiast, Church Bass Player, Rhythm Guitar Player It fits in the nooks and crannies...I am not a drummer, but play one in my home studio. I think I'm pretty good at table drumming, so when I saw the Wavedrum Mini I thought I had found the "drum" that was right for me.First, I don't think that this will work to meet your stand-alone drum needs. The pad and mic clip are velocity sensitive. Which means, in order to get different tones, you have to strike the pad ad different speeds. I found this very difficult to do when trying to do a traditional backbeat. As well, some of the tones are kind of toy like and not really great for the traditional rock or blues work that I was trying to accomplish. Here's where it's great. If you're working with drum loops and you want to add a little more human feel, this is for you. When working with loops, I found this adds a less mechanical feel. I have found myself adding 5 to 7 additional tracks of percussion that really brings life to my recording. It's a great accent piece... not a great center piece. Therefore... 3 stars.
