Customer Reviewsfrom Lakeport, CA March 24, 2012 Music Background: Musician, Instructor, Recording Engineer, Recording Artist, Music School Founder, composer, etc On-Stage Stands Heavy-Duty T-Stand WS8550 (Large-formatService was excellent. Thanks, Scott. The stand functioned beautifully on its first gig. from May 17, 2012 Not Ideal for KeyboardsThis is a really strong stand with thick tubing and sturdy pieces. I can imagine it could take A LOT of weight. It collapses to a great size to make it easy to store. It is heavier than expected, much heavier than a keyboard would need. You might think, "well at least it is sturdy" but they way "X"-like shape is when it is set up does not make it sit flush on the ground easily. The two pivot points in the middle/top of the stand are free-moving they do not snap into a position; which makes it versatile, but unless both sides are exactly the same then it will wobble. The hight adjustment is a bit of a pain too each leg has those spring-loaded-snap-buttons with ~5 different positions so you have to push it each time on each leg to go to a standing position (kind of a pain). If you leave it set up then these things are not a big deal, but it gets pretty irritating after a while if you need to teardown and set up regularly. This would be a great stand for other heavy equipment, but pretty overkill for a keyboard. from Boston, MA December 22, 2007 Music Background: Classically trained on brass and keyboard instruments Good Design Concept, Potential Failure Issue, Not so Heavy Duty to me!Received first unit with manufacturing damage. Sweetwater's excellent service department promptly sent replacement. As I started to setup replacement stand, one of the leg's locking pins fell out and unit collapsed! Fortunately, I did not put my Fantom X8 on it yet, possibly damaging the keyboard. There appears to be a potential for the weakly attached pins to become detached from the extension spring causing the stand to collapse. Do I dare to try another one of these or go to something else? I am sure Seeetwater will resolve this issue with the manufacturer as this diminishes the quality image that Sweetwater strives to maintain. |
