It's also ideal for capturing your next brilliant idea — whether that's a great guitar riff, a jam with the band, or your next piano concerto. If you do record outside and on the go, you'll definitely appreciate the highpass filter — it's aimed to help you curb frustrating low-frequency rumble from wind and handling. The Yamaha W24 is great in the studio too. When you're recording in your living room or studio, you'll appreciate the Yamaha W24's impressive set of time-saving features. Onboard, there's a built-in tuner and metronome. There's even an included wireless remote, so you don't have to get up, put down your guitar, and fidget with the recorder when you need to make just a subtle adjustment or stop/start recording. No matter where you are and what you are recording, though, the W24's built-in peak limiter is a real lifesaver — suppressing those unforeseen extra-loud transients from ruining an otherwise spectacular recording. Whenever you're ready to transfer tracks to your computer, you can use the USB connector (cable included!). The W24 will show up on your desktop just like a regular flash drive or hard drive, so you can easily drag and drop your files over. I bought this to record music rehearsals; the sound is good, the size is great, basically it does what I want. But unfortunately, the range of the remote is really bad - you basically have to hold it right up to the recorder. So I usually have to hand the remote to someone standing near the device, or else walk over to the device to start & stop it. Add to this the fact that the red status light indicating record vs. stop vs. standby is very difficult to see when the recorder is pointing in a good direction, and it becomes extremely frustrating to know whether you really started/stopped recording or not. close [-]
