Customer Reviewsfrom California March 12, 2012 Music Background: Guitar Player. KILLER Practice Amp!! 5 Stars, NO LESS!!!I own one of these amps and they are amazing! You could literally fiddle with this thing all night and just keep coming up with new tones and sounds. It has quirks, but for what this thing does for $450, i can live with them. The recto distortion on this amp is killer! I also dig the Plexi and JCM models too, very distinct and if you toggle the clean boost or the tubescreamer effect, they just come alive. What's ironic though is the Peavey amp models are the most boring with this amp, I was really looking forward to also getting a good XXX tone, but, sadly, not there... I play a Les Paul Traditional as well as a Strat though this, the sounds behave differently depending on which guitar I'm using, but both sound great through this amp. I've had this amp for about 3 years now and I still conjure up tones that have my jaw dropping. Having also just purchased my first "All Tube" Fender amp, a ProSonic which is awesome but LOUD, I planned on selling this one but no way!! The Fender may produce god-like tone, but it's so loud I hardly get to crank it, I bought it for recording and gigging... this amp on the other hand can go from thunder to a whisper and you can still have fun playing. So like I said, for the price, this is a GREAT practice amp. When I bought mine it came with an offer to get the Sanpera pedal for free, which is a MUST if you want to use the looper or wah pedal. If you're looking for your next amp but aren't ready to drop $1000 plus, go for it, the controls are simple and you will be rocking amazing tone with this puppy right out of the box!! (Note: The 100 watt Vypyr is OVERKILL... Bought one and sent it back, FYI... the 60 watt is the magic box.) from Mebane, NC September 26, 2011 Music Background: Get paid to play (here and there) NOT BAD AT ALL.....great modeling amp....easy to use and effects are higher quality than most that you see (built in the amp, I mean). You can here a hint of real tube sound....very crisp. Most of the model amp selections are pretty accurate....Right now I cant stop plating with it....I have a Hot Rod Deluxe and a few others....and this is the most fun to use!!!The Sweet Water crew was very personable....made me feel like I wasnt just an order number.....they gave me that Local Guitar Shop vibe......I am very happy with the amp....I am praciting with it.....and am gonna go ahead and gig it next week. from Pittsburgh,PA May 1, 2011 Music Background: Hobbyist in recording, bass, guitar, keybords ImpressedLike they say, nothing matches the real thing. But this amp comes close to so many. It has the classic rock sounds of yesterday and today's latest hot wired amp sounds. The only problem is that they sound like they all come from the same amp. Which they are. Maybe using the extension speaker out to a Fender or Marshall cabinet might make it more authentic sounding to those amps, but overall it's a very versatile and great sounding amp.I tried the USB to my computer and used the included Reaper software, but the latency was so bad that I couldn't use it. I don't know if my computer was the problem or what, but it wasn't worth the time to figure it out when I have a Tascam 2488 MKII sitting there. So I used the headphone/recording out on the amp to the mixer. It works and sounds great. It lacks the actual miked amp sound, but it does lay down great recording sounds. I played it with my band with it and I was able to find quite a few different settings that worked well and complimented the other guitarist and the bands overall sound. This amp can work for a variety of styles. I haven't tried it with the Sampra foot controllers, but I'm sure it the possibilities are almost endless. I'm very satisfied with it.
