I have never been so happy with an amp in my life. The left side of the dial is fantastic. If you don't play high gain then you wouldn't like it. The noise gate issue is addressed and gone. I play almost silent on the rectifier when not playing. I laugh when I hit a chord and people jump. So don't be put off by the other reviewer regarding the gain channels.
I use this amp exclusively now and have been selling off my other amps because the sound, ease of use and flexibility can't be beat.
Mine is a head now. I play a 4 x12 with three Emi Governor's and one Emi Swamp Thang and I would put it against anything. Simply Amazing.
No, I don't work for Peavey and I don't know anyone there either.
For gigging this is now worthy with the updates. You don't know what you are missing. close [-]

Peavey Vypyr Tube 120
by Jerry Taylor from Beckley, WVI got the amp in early 2009. It's "clean" settings are the best. In fact, I get the best tones from my Am. Deluxe Tele, that I've ever gotten from ANY amp. The "OD" settings are mostly garbage. Ho... read more [+]wever, the amp is very, very versatile, as long as you stay with the clean settings. The "amp" settings - on the left of the dial - are pretty much useless (even in clean). The "bank" and "preset" buttons are extremely difficult to access, located directly under the "stomp box"; "amp"; and "effects" knobs. I wish they were larger and more accessible. The amp is extremely noisy - when not being played. I must back off the Sanparp volume peddle between songs. I hope Peavey comes up with some fixes, and gives them to their customers. I'm considering getting the Vypyr Tube H - to use with my JBL D120 enclosure. Don't get me wrong, this is a GREAT amp and I plan to keep using it, in spite of the negatives. close [-]
