I have owned the Voice Master Pro for approximately 7 years and when i 1st recieved the pre-amp i had so many options for taloring the mic signal let alone clean mid rangy power. After going through countless recording sessions and "tweaking" i now know that this is the best affordable mic pre amp ever made,i would love to see a Focus Rite Mastering out board pre that the average guy can afford like my self let me be the 1st to test such legendary gear, yea you guy's know for sure what your doing much repect "Guy's" from 12welve!!!! first of all, let me say: sweetwater rocks! my thanks to Matt and Kurt for giving me such a great deal.
I'm a home-studio recording little guy on budget, therefore i don't have enough money for separate audio processors. I came across this all-in-one channel strip called " voicemaster platinum pro" from a well-known company called Focusrite Audio Engineering. With some expert advices from Sweetwater engineers, i'd decided to give it a try. After hooking everything up, i tested the thing and i was blown away by how great it sounds. This is quite a channel strip dedicated to vocals exclusively. I couldn't be happier when Sweetwater gave me an A/D card for FREE!
In short, if you're recording vocals, on budget and need a professional all-in-one channel strip (saves you some space), Voicemaster Platinum Pro might be the one you're looking for.
Beats Channel Strips 2x the cost

ok, this isn't an avalon 737 or Manley Voxbox. but, this is probably the cleanest and most versatile channel strip i've ever used under about $1200. Class A preamps which sound great, dynamics control which is good, and the very interesting harmonics and tube sound make this a versatile unit. the tube sound is very good at fattening up tracks. It's a great DI box for guitar, bass, or mono keyboard tracks. Try running your snare drum samples through it and you'll be amazed. Of course, it's great on vocals also. Clean, versatile, feature packed. For the price, i'm blown away.
Nice for bass too

Ok. I admit it. I don't know why I spent $600+ on a voice channel when I have $30k worth of plugins. That being said, the VM is a great box. First, the Gate is amazing, no muss, no fuss, and it never cuts a client off. The de-esser is ok I guess, but nothing great. The Vintage Harmonics section is really great on some things, its a bit of ear candy but can really work on some people. The big things are the optical compressor (which is really really transparent) and the tube sound. It can really help de-harsh somebody if you don't have the right mic for em. My favorite use for this is bass guitar. Hands down best bass pre I've ever used. Bottom for days. And between the comp, vintage harm, and tube color, you can get one heck of a bass sound. I use it every day. For what its worth, I prefer this to the Twintrak pro, which is a pseudo-Stereo Voicemaster. just my 2 cents....
