From Our Research Team:Renowned Focusrite Preamp with Impressive Feature List! The VoiceMaster Pro is designed to create the perfect vocal sound at an unbelievably competitive price point. The unit bridges the gap between the flagship ISA 430 'Producer Pack' and the original VoiceMaster, featuring design aspects from both the legendary ISA range and the award winning, cost-effective Platinum range.Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro at a Glance:
Famous Focusrite Class A preamp plus an instrument input The renowned Focusrite Class A mic preamp from the original VoiceMaster is retained in the VoiceMaster Pro, but an instrument input has been added to the front, along with phantom power, phase reverse and variable high-pass filter. A new vocal-friendly optical expander follows, so the VoiceMaster Pro provides smoother and more linear processing. Latency-free stereo monitoring Perhaps the most innovative of VoiceMaster Pro's exciting new features is a latency-free stereo monitoring section, providing comprehensive headphone monitoring of both the full mix and the vocal (alongside an FX send and return control). The VoiceMaster Por puts an end to DAW latency problems when tracking! "Vintage Harmonics" processor emulates 1970s tape-based units Another revolutionary element of the VoiceMaster Pro is the "Vintage Harmonics" processor, designed to emulate classic '70s tape-based vocal enhancement processes. The compressor is an updated version of the Platinum series optical device. As with the ISA 430, VoiceMaster Pro allows the user to change the position of both processing blocks within the signal-chain. (Both the compressor and the Vintage Harmonics sections can be moved around.) Tuneable "Tube Sound" circuit and voice-optimized EQ The VoiceMaster Pro also features a new tuneable Tube Sound circuit, providing greater control and clearer indication via an extra tone control knob and tri-color "Drive" LED. The voice-optimized EQ follows, featuring improved breath and absence controls, enabling elegant handling of the varying aspects of male and female vocalists. The ISA 430's de-esser completes the VoiceMaster Pro's processing set. The Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro is also the first Platinum series unit to feature a custom blue Focusrite VU meter. An optional A/D card is available, operating at 24 bit/96kHz with S/PDIF output and BNC word clock input, providing hassle-free digital connectivity. Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro Features:

The week that I got this, I tracked so much different stuff with it...vocals, bass, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, trumpet, violin, you name it this pre sounds great on it. The compressor sounds great, and this thing has so much crystal clear gain its not even funny. I put up a mic, plugged in some headphones, worked the gain up, and heard EVERYTHING. I'm talking the filter in a fish tank down the hall behind a closed door, traffic two blocks away, everything. I've been using this to find out where my noise problems in the studio are coming from, and one by one I cn get rid of them. What an amazng piece of gear. close [-]

ok, this isn't an avalon 737 or Manley Voxbox. but, this is probably the cleanest and most versatile channel strip i've ever used under about $1200. It's a great DI box for guitar, bass, or mono keyboard tracks. Try running your snare drum samples through it and you'll be amazed. Of course, it's great on vocals also. Clean, versatile, feature packed. For the price, i'm blown away. close [-]

I came across this all-in-one channel strip called " voicemaster platinum pro" from a well-known company called Focusrite Audio Engineering. With some expert advices from Sweetwater engineers, i'd decided to give it a try. After hooking everything up, i tested the thing and i was blown away by how great it sounds. This is quite a channel strip dedicated to vocals exclusively. I couldn't be happier when Sweetwater gave me an A/D card for FREE! In short, if you're recording vocals, on budget and need a professional all-in-one channel strip (saves you some space), Voicemaster Platinum Pro might be the one you're looking for. close [-] A Decent Channel Strip for a Good Price

First off, this thing has a lot of options and if used in moderation, these options allow you to dial in some pretty sweet sounds. First off, the preamp itself is good. It lacks the low end punch or h... read more [+]igh end air and expansiveness of some of the higher-end pres, but it does what it does admirably. The HP filter with adjustable target frequency is handy. December 31, 2009 Music Background: Recording Engineer and Musician The expander/gate is functional and can be useful in certain situations. It's no Drawmer but it still works well. The Vintage Harmonic sections is fun to play with, but I usually prefer to record the source material as clean as possible and then run the recorded signal back through it. IN moderation, it can sound very cool on vocals and drums, but it is really easy to overdo it and you often don't know it is overdone until you start mixing. I do not use the Tube Section. I find that instead of warming the signal, it kind of closes it off and makes it sound a little more boxy. I think the only thing that sounds like a tube is a tube. The EQ and De-Esser sections are also decent but it's nothing that a decent plug-in can't do. All in all I like this unit and I use it regularly when I am experiementing with sounds. This is a great unit for somebody who does not like to use plug-ins. For people that prefer analog gear, there are units out there that outperform the Voicemaster in every way, but most of them are single purpose unit and most will cost you a good deal of money. Honestly, having all of the options on one 2U unit makes this unit a very good buy for the budding recordist. close [-] Focusrite VoiceMaster Pro
