Virus hardware synthesizers are awesome. They are musically and sonically infectious. A must-have synth for those who seek huge sound and sonic bliss for all the electronic music genres.

This synth doesn't sound like software.

This is one sick puppy, indeed.I was on the fence for the longest, but I finally made the plunge a few months ago.I wanted to step up the game and gradute from soft synths to hardware.I'm now glad I did, sure the purchase stung a bit,but it has stepped up my game with Ableton Live to a new Realm,I never would've thought was possible.

Well, alot of people on the fourms say the Virus sounds like software, hahahaha. This is a porky pie,and when they say that it makes you wonder about their music credentials,my take:bedroom dweller envy. They're the experts, but they always fale to recomend a piece of software that out does the Virus hahaha, like I said pure envy. The Virus doesn't sound better than analog, just different.Don't get me wroung,it can come close to the analog sound, but thats not what it was desinged to do.The Virus is like a mocking bird, you see,and it mocks everything else, quite well.I can pretty much emulate anything in the synth World, and it does it quite well.Jexus on youtube, does a wonderful improv/80s balad with the Virus synth, you should check it out.My final conclusion on analog:the Virus sounds like it's in the middle of digital and analog domain land. This is because of it's onboard effects.Once you get the hang of it,you can get very close to analog.Besides, the Virus sounds better than analog IMHO.Usually it's the other way around with a VA Synth, but this isn't the case with the Virus.Only an analog purist would be offended by the Virus and feel threatened.Oh,the CD vs Vinyl argument lol.Well,it's the same fight.

I'd say the Virus is a great Workstaion to start with.It has uses on every genre of music, and like I said before does any emulation very well.I decided to add a Slim Phatty to tag along with the Virus, and it's been a match made in heaven, because they adore each other.

The set up was easy:install the disc, plug in the Virus to usb,and find the Virus in your Ableton Live VST folder. The Virus is the only synth that acts like a software synth. The Virus is total daw intergration, unlike any other, because it uses it's onboard dsp,so it doesn't drain your computers resorces. This comes in handy if you use daw effects that rely on your pc for power.I added a UAD solo 1 card,to give me just a tad bit more overhead, with my massive ammount of plug ins.

Sweetwater, was the place to buy the Virus.I recived expert help and customer support. Also they gave me an extension on my factory warranty by one year. They will fix my Virus for an additional year, after the factory warranty goes out.The Virus is built like a tank, but that extra perk added a peace of mind to my purchase.

If you're looking for the best sounding Synth to make music,by the Virus from Sweetwater.I love helping great companys grow.

One of the best purchases I've made

This thing is absolutely limitless. It comes packed with a large array of presets to allow quick familiarity, but that's just the beginning. It's beyond expansive.

The sound quality is superb and easily sits pretty well in many mixes simply as is. I never find myself battling with it.

What really blew me away though is how responsive Access is to its clientele. I can honestly say this has been one of the best purchases I've made.
