The popular VELO-8 - with a tube!

Groove Tubes' VELO 8T is the tube-driven follow-up to their first foray into the ribbon mic arena, the popular VELO 8. The VELO 8T is great for guitar cabs and anything else you want accurate pickup with detailed, natural sound. The name 'VELO' is derived from 'velocity', since ribbon mics were classically known as 'velocity microphones' early on, while the '8' is for the VELO 8T's figure-8 pickup pattern. Groove Tubes is able to churn out amazing mics that far exceed normal bang-for-the-buck ratios, while producing some amazing high-end studio electronics. Bringing together the most modern technologies along with classic ribbon design, all at a price that studios and musicians can afford, the VELO 8T is quite a mic!

The Groove Tubes VELO 8T is a tube-driven velocity (ribbon) type studio microphone that features a large (2" x .25") ribbon element. The VELO 8T's dynamic design is activated using Neodymium, a rare Earth magnetic that offers maximum sensitivity output and wider response compared to standard dynamic microphones. It offers a velvet-smooth response that ribbon mic lovers will immediately appreciate.

The VELO 8T takes the innovative design aspects of the VELO 8 ribbon mic, and adds tube electronics for even higher output and sensitivity while still retaining the classic and highly desirable ribbon sound. Like GT's renowned tube condenser mics, the VELO 8T offers a hand-selected low noise USA-made vacuum tube in a special low noise Class A design. With its custom-formed high power Neodymium magnets and Cinemag transformer, the VELO 8T attains higher signal levels and lower noise while retaining a velvet-smooth response.

Engineers and producers feel comfortable using the GT VELO 8 on virtually any vocal and instrument source, and like the classic ribbon mics, VELO 8 is particularly great for smoothing out the rough edges on sources such as horns, guitars and brassy vocalists. Operating in a figure-8 polar pattern, it's an excellent choice for ensemble recording as well. Virtually any source will benefit from the sweet sound of a ribbon mic and the character of a tube mic, and the GT VELO 8T offers both in a single package!
