Its intuitive touch-screen interface makes juggling four video sources and assigning visual effects easy enough for a complete beginner. What's more, the overall layout of the VR-3 is remarkably simple. Every major function has its own dedicated knob or button and appears in a logical place on the surface. The other half of the VR-3 puts a flexible set of audio mixing tools at your fingertips. In all, the VR-3 features an 8-channel mixer, complete with four microphone preamps. Both pairs of mic pres sport independently switchable phantom power, so you can use anything from shotgun microphones to lavaliers. A pair of built-in condenser microphone onboard the VR-3 are perfect for capturing crowd noise if you're producing media for a live event. Roland also loaded the VR-3 with a full set of useful creative tools, including gate, EQ, reverb, and other must-have onboard audio processing.
