VINTAGE MODERN 2466 DESCRIPTION

The Best Of Yesterday AND Today In One Amp!
The Marshall Vintage Modern 2266 100-watt all-tube amplifier head uses a single channel with a choice of two footswitchable "dynamic ranges." The Low range gives you the tone and gain of a stock vintage Marshall amp. The High range on the 2266 adds an extra preamp tube to the signal path, providing some tasty classic rock tones. Go from sparkling chime to compressed overdrive with a tap of the footswitch, and add your favorite outboard effects to the signal path via a series effects loop (with level selector) built into the versatile, powerful 2266 Vintage Modern head.

Marshall Vintage Modern 2266 100-watt Amplifier Head at a Glance:
  • Flexible preamp with a classic power section
  • Master volume and reverb
  • Effects loop

Versatile preamp, classic power section
Two "frequency selective" preamp voicings (called Body and Detail) give you incredible tonal flexibility, while the power amplifier is based largely on the first Marshall amplifiers to be produced, with four KT66 output tubes yielding a fat and smooth tone, with plenty of output for even the largest venue. A mid-boost switch on the front panel fattens the tone even more while a taditional Marshall tone control circuit enables you to fine tune your sound.

Master volume and reverb
A master volume gives you the ability to manage this amp's output effectively at any venue. A reverb level control mixes the onboard "plate" reverb with the direct signal, so you can make the signal as "wet" or "dry" as you wish. The reverb is footswitchable for even more onstage flexibility.

Effects loop
The 2266 Vintage Modern 100-watt head includes a series effects loop so you can add outboard gear to your sound. Loop levels of -10dB and +4dB are selectable via a rear panel switch. You can completely bypass the effects loop also.

Marshall 2266 Vintage Modern 100-watt Amplifer Head Features:
  • Output: 100W
  • Preamp tubes: Four 12AX7/ECC83
  • Power amp tubes: Four KT66
  • Includes footswitch

The Marshall 2266 Vintage Modern 100-watt amplifier head gives you two kinds of Marshall tone in one powerful package!

Sweetwater Expert Advice

"Nothing has gotten me more excited about playing guitar than this amp! Spawned from the handwired series, Marshall has taken the original plexi-type design, modified it by adding quite a bit more gain, and a master volume so you can get heavy distortion at low volumes. On that note, even when totally saturated and cranked, it stays clean and tight... you can hear your fingers on the frets. This is an amp to be reckoned with!"
Ryan Nagle

"I can not get enough of this amp. I play through it whenever I can, which is often. With the one channel on the Vintage Modern, you can achieve more tonal possibilities than some amps that have two, three, or four channels. It responds to your guitar's volume knob changes very well. If you want it clean, just roll off the volume. Marshall's reputation speaks for itself, but they have really come out with a tone monster with the Vintage Modern 2466. It's the kind of amp that gets you excited when you hear it - whether it's a flurry of sweep arpeggios, or an open E chord."
