Included in the UVI Grand Piano Collection are five enormous-sounding grand pianos taken from master piano makers with completely different philosophies on how to build the "best" piano possible. The German American piano maker, Steinway and Sons represent the most popular grand pianos in the world, and their Concert D embodies their conviction to build standards without concerning themselves with price and never to compromise on quality. The short-lived Fazioli F278 Concert Grand was an experiment in the use of tonewoods to produce a richer and fuller sounding piano than any other grand. The Erard Baby Grand Piano Ultimate Sound Bank sampled is a masterpiece built in Paris in 1930 that was a favorite among jazz pianists, and the Seiler Upright Grand is well known for its brilliant warmth. The way Ultimate Sound Bank approached their Grand Piano Collection was different than most other sample libraries. They began by selecting the right models by consulting with renowned classical and jazz pianists. They then traveled to some of the finest recording studios in Europe to play and record different pianos until they found the right individual instruments, all the while taking with them one of most qualified tuning experts in the world. In the end, they selected and recorded the pianos that found favor among all of Ultimate Sound Bank's consultants. They used only the highest-quality recording equipment, replicating techniques where appropriate, but always making sure to capture the nuances of color and character unique to each instrument. When the sample libraries were finally processed, they were handed to some of the best pianists in the world for critical scrutiny and revamped until they met and even exceeded these individuals' critical expectations.
