Classic drum machine beats at your beck and call Beat Box Anthology gives you an exhaustively complete collection of classic drum machine sounds and loops; in fact, it covers almost every generation of these instruments. Though these cult machines haven't been considered "state of the art" since the '70s, '80s, or '90s, their sounds are still used today in a lot of urban, hip-hop, electro-house and even electro-pop productions. A brief history Initially designed to imitate real drum and percussion sounds, the first drum machines available to the masses were made in the '60s. Analog synthesis was the the first technology used to generate the drum sounds and most models left no opportunity to the user to alter or modify the pre-programmed rhythms. In the '80s, the first models using low resolution digital samples were launched, and they were quickly used in the most successful tunes in the music industry. The '90s saw an evolution toward better and better sound quality. Premium-quality recordings Beat Box Anthology is divided in three sections: Classics, Analog, and Digital. In the Classics category you will find the cult machines that are still used today, such as the 808 or the 909. Sampling and recording was particularly complete, covering every parameter and setting you can find on these machines. To capture the essence of these pieces of history, Ultimate Sound Bank recorded all the samples and loops in 24-bit/96kHz resolution, using the best DI boxes and analog-to-digital converters. Sounds were then mastered at Sterling Sound with Chris Gerhinger. This collection includes approximately 10,000 samples and loops from 80 different machines. Beat Box Anthology contains hundreds of native kits and patterns for MOTU's BPM groove production software, too. Whatever the kind of music you're making, you will certainly find room for these incredible sounding machines. Carson McClainI've spent thousands on vintage drum machines because I personally love the interface and the hardware restrictions they impose on the music creation process. There's nothing quite like the sound of a real Linn Drum or a hardware TR-808. There is one issue, I don't have the money or the space to buy every major classic, analog or digital drum machine that has ever hit the market since the '70s. If you need vintage drum sounds and you need them at your fingertips now, add Beatbox Anthology to your free UVI player. Also popular
