After reading ... read more [+]multiple reviews on both products, I settled on the Westone UM1's.November 8, 2012 Music Background: Guitar, Bass, Drums, & Keyboards The thing I like most about the UM1's is their comfort. Sometimes I forget that I even have them in. They are very light weight and seal the ears very well. They are however, quite different from the E2C's that I had been using so I wanted to use them a few weeks before I wrote a review. The biggest noticeable difference for me is the top and bottom end roll off. That is not necessarily a bad thing but it took a bit of getting use to after using the E2C'2 for so long. There is definitely a more defined mid-range in comparison to the E2C's also. I am using these through an Aviom system for praise and worship so for that application these work very well. If I were to buy in-ear monitors for the sole purpose of listening to music through an MP3 player, or other media device, I would probably go a different direction. I took a chance thinking the bottom end was too light, based on other reviews. They have a full, warm sound. Like the lower end shures, they have a slightly muted top which for my taste, prevents piercing sounds. They would not be my choice based on listening use but for monitor use, they will do a fine job.
