I played bass guitar semiprofessionally when I was young. Now, this is for amusement. I've owned several basses. Still have my fretless Fender P. I like to play jazz standards.

Among the very best basses I've ever played

Fast, easy playing. Incredible, lively sound. Masterful, strong construction. Perfect fretting all the way up. Great looks (less bright than the photo). Extremely comfortable neck. Thick and smooth fingerboard. You know how, with so many 5-string basses, you feel like you've gone to a new instrument when you go down and get that low B? Not with this one. You can play with a consistent sound over two octives in one position, allowing yourself to stay right on the neck where you want the sound flavor to be. And the notes sustain all along the fingerboard. If you've played the acoustic model, forget that experience, great as it is. This one is the one you want.
