Customer Reviewsfrom NY January 21, 2012Music Background: semi-pro musician /pro guitar tech Love the U-Bass!I'm a bass player who doubles on electric and upright. The U-bass is a great alternative to bringing out the upright when space is at a premium. It does have a upright-ish sound, but it does have it's own thing going on too. It's also a great for travel or just sitting on the couch. I have a friend who's a Nashville cat that uses his on pro level gigs. I fell in love with his and mine is just as awesome. The strings require a little getting used to ( a light touch goes a long way) and do stretch a bit when new and may require rewinding. Very pleased with my purchase and Sweetwater customer service is top notch.from Florida November 28, 2011Music Background: Cutback Surf/Rock band. Little Big BassThe Kala U-Bass is truly a unique instrument. I play a Fender P-Bass in a Surf/Rock band. I had been looking to extend myself to Jazz with a stand up bass but was intimidated by the cost and HUGE finger positions. After much research I went out on a limb and got a Kala U-Bass. I played it this weekend with a "Purist" Jazz Pianist and he could not believe the similarity in sound to a Stand up Bass. The only down side was that I had to restring the A String to avoid crowding the wraps on the peg. But it was not at all difficult.
