My new go-to...

I was skeptical when I read all the hype surrounding UA's QUAD Satellite and the plug-ins, especially because I have an analog background. Within a month of having this piece I have completely changed my tune; the plug-ins sound amazing, the selection is great and the ability to run more plug-ins without taxing my CPU is phenomenal. Plus, for the price of one 1176 I can have as many configurations as I can imagine. If you are concerned about budget and space I would highly recommend this piece of gear.

Absolutely Rocks!!

I absolutely love the UAD plugs. And having them in a FW format that I can use with my MacBook Pro makes this a slam dunk! Favorite plug in so far -- the EMT 140 plate.

Does what it says it will

I would have given it 5 stars except that I have the original MAC PRO and I had some difficulty getting it talk to firewire to it at first. Their service was great though, and helped fix the problem -- within a couple days I was up and running.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's as a musician and always loved recording. I was finding it difficult to get the sounds I wanted and I'd heard great things about these as PCIe devices. So being as I also have a MACBOOK PRO I thought the satellite version fit my needs better. So far I'm not disappointed at all. The Neve eq plugins warm things up beautifully. They give guitar a wonderfully silky high end without that digital harshness. The Studer tape emulation plugin takes it take to that extra notch and can also be used for effects. I also like the Roland effects plugins. I have so many RTAS plugs that I should NOT have bought now -- this takes care of 80-90% of my needs. And, no CPU load!

UAD 2 Sattelite Quad

It's very good, but it has some limitations in the number of plugins you can load and also, in my system, I had to work with less RTAS processors in the host in order to not cause error messages...kind of bothering. I prefer better the PCIe, but UAD is a very powerful tool anyway.
