The U853a cardioid condenser microphone is ideal for speech, theater, orchestra and choir sound reinforcement and recording. The U853a's fast transient response and low distortion characteristics allow every complex detail to be heard with all its impact-rich, vibrant qualities faithfully reproduced.

The Audio-Technica U853a condenser mic is custom-designed to provide outstanding reproduction while positioned above and vocal or instrumental group or theatrical production. Its included AT8451 hanging boom includes an elbow and can be easily positioned to place the U853a at an optimum angle for pickup. The U853a's cardioid pickup pattern rejects bleed, giving you focused capture of the source sound. Frequency response of 30Hz-20kHz ensures full-range reproduction. The U853a also features a UniSteep filter that provides a steep low-frequency attenuation to improve sound pickup without affecting voice quality. This bass roll-off filter kicks in at 80Hz with an 18dB/octave slope, keeping room rumble in control.

Improved RFI-shielding technology for interference-free operation
The Audio-Technica U853a is equipped with Audio-Technica's new UniGuard innovations that offer unsurpassed immunity from radio frequency interference. Unobtrusive design with battery or phantom power
It's easy to mount the U853a beyond the audience's sight line. The mic and its included AT8451 hanging boom are available in black or white to blend in with its surroundings. The U853a operates on either battery power or phantom power to allow maintenance-free positioning. A 25-foot cable is permanently mounted to the U853a, with a TA3F-type connector. The Audio-Technica U853a is the mic to choose for permanent mounting!
