I brought this a good year ago but have only recently had the time to use it . i hooked it up to my Tascam DP-01FX and used this focusrite as a front end , I ran two Audio technica 2020 condenser mics through it and stereo miced up my tanglewood jumbo semi acoustic guitar through it , I used the strereo compressor for the guitars and used one of the Audio T's for the vocals .

I put up two mic stands with a quilt drooping over behind me to cut out the unwanted room sounds(budget way of soundproofing).

The sound I managed to get was amazing, I managed to get a lovely signal through the Focusrite into my Tascam 8 track digital without distortion.

I am well pleased with this product, the Focusrite mic pre's are clean and fat sounding.

The mid scoop EQ is also great.

I have this and the Voicemaster pro. I use this for some mics but not others. The EQ section is great for scooping out some mic harshness. And the optical comp, while I am sure is the same as the VM, doesn't ever seem to react as well. Biggest prob I have with this unit is that it has NO MIC INS ON THE BACK. Ok, I know its not a hi-end sorta pre. But if you rack it, you're screwed. Unless you want cables hanging all over the front of the rack. Solution: there's an empy slot on the back for another digital card. I made a lexan panel for it, added 2 XLR jacks and jumpered it to the front ins. Yes, I voided the warranty instantly. But I needed the thing to be practical. I'm sure Sweetwater will wholeheartedly say "DONT DO THIS" (as the guy from Focusrite advised), but it really helps the patching. If I had rack space, I'd get 2 VM pros over this, but its still a good box.
