Bowie. Heroes. Tverb.

Join Sweetwater in a trip back to 1977. David Bowie is recording the lead vocal for the title track of his Heroes album in Berlin's Hansa Studios, with producer Tony Visconti behind the board. Seeking to highlight the drama of Bowie's voice, Visconti sets up three mics - one for David to sing into, a second around 15' away, and a third even farther back into the ambience-rich room. He then sets up noise gates on the second and third mics, and programs them to open as David sings ever louder. Eventide captures this amazing effect with Tverb: three lush, independent reverbs, with selectable polar patterns and compression on microphone one, and adjustable gates on mics two and three. They also added features such as stereo that let you forge immersive new effects and soundscapes.

Eventide Tverb Features:
  • A re-creation of Tony Visconti's stunning effect on David Bowie's Heroes
  • 3 lush, independent reverbs
  • Selectable polar patterns and compression on microphone 1
  • Adjustable gates on mics 2 and 3
  • New features, such as stereo, let you forge immersive new effects and soundscapes
  • Includes presets created by Tony Visconti and other artists

OH YES!

The Eventide Tverb does what no other plugin I own will - create a believable virtual room in which to place what ever you want. The ability to move the microphones around, pan them, apply some filtering and adjust the decay and diffusion is huge. I have several reverb programs, including Altiverb (which allows you to move the sound source around - not quite the same), but none of them create as realistic sounding a room as Tverb. Super easy to dial in. Highly recommended.

Tverb is history in the box!!

Having spent many years in the pro-audio field, I was a bit skeptical when I discovered Tverb, but after several in-the-box sessions I can say everyone was pleased with the sound quality and reality this plug-in added to the vocals and percussion.

Very pleased, thanks to my sales engineer Matt Alexander, always keeps me up to date and informed. Get this plug-in, call Matt if you have questions!!!!

Quite impressive!

Let me start by saying that I own the Lexicon PCM reverb bundle, IK Multimedia CSR (never liked that one), Sonnox Oxford Reverb, various convolution reverbs and outboard processors from Lexicon and tc electronic. A few years ago, I had to close my recording studio and build a smaller one at home. One of the things I miss the most about having a larger, great sounding room is the ability to use a pair of distance mics to capture some natural ambience. I've never been able to find a sound with any of my software or hardware units that sounds like an actual pair of good mics in a great sounding room. Somebody in an online forum suggested that I give Tverb a shot, and when it went on sale on black Friday, I took the plunge. I'm so glad I did! I've been using it for a few months now, and have been using it in nearly every mix. It just sounds so REAL, yet also sits VERY well in the mix, unlike most software reverbs. The option of using the gates and all the other bells and whistles is there as well if you want to get creative, but even just for the purpose of having a virtual room that sounds real, this is fantastic. Very impressed.

Stellar!

Eventide very well may have completely outdone themselves on this one! Im a bit of a reverb fanatic and after a few minutes of demoing this plugin I was completely blown away! I have actually heard U87 Microphones in a large wooden room like this and I have to say that the sound is spot on. The ability to move the two distant minces around the room, listen to each one as its moved and mix them in with the front mic is just a game changer. You can also put the front U87 in figure 8, carded or omni and enable the hi or low bandpass filer on it at the same time. Its as real as it gets and the actual reverb is on par with the best of the best verb plugins I have heard. After incorporating this into the latest blues track I was working on, there was no doubt that it sounded like it was recorded in a large beautiful room. This may be the best room reverb plugin I have heard to date and believe me, I have them all!

OK, nut limited

I actually expected more. It adds a little depth to a recording but it's subtle. Moving the mics around is cool but doesn't change much to the ear. mainly this adds a little air and that's it. Lots of other plugins that add air for far less.

There are studio engineers at Sweetwater who personally remember when Eventide changed the game with their affordable digital processing. Many of us still own Eventide DSP boxes that go back decades, and we use them all the time, because they're still awesome. That's one of the reasons we're always happy to talk to customers who come to Sweetwater looking for killer hardware effects. And it's not just engineers - you'll find Eventide delays, harmonizers, and more on our pedalboards, adding shimmer and shine to our guitars. It's little wonder Sweetwater is one of the biggest Eventide dealers out there, and our relationship with Eventide continues to grow, especially as they expand into new fields like plug-ins, 500 Series gear, and Eurorack synth systems.
