ReviewsExcellent Rackmount interface at a low price.
by Jared L from Oregon (USA)
I've had this for a month..and used it to record drum kit and vocals. I recorded into Logic with all 8 internal mic pre's going with a mix of condenser and dynamic mics - it worked great.July 24, 2009 Music Background: Mobile Recording, Student, Hobbyist Vocal... read more [+]s also sound great. I was also able to mix surround sound with 5 powered monitors and subwoofer using this device; again works as expected. Compared to other interfaces at the same price, this one has a very low noise floor and everything is clear. My only complaint is the headphone monitoring (combines all eight outs into a stereo headphone out - channels 1, 3, 5 and 7 go to left; 2, 4, 6 and 8 go the right. No direct monitoring of the inputs). close [-] Generally excellent

I was extremely hard pressed to find a bad review of this unit before I bought it, and as for quality of recording, it lived up to my expectations. I did a simple stereo recording of an acoustic perf... read more [+]ormance and the sound was extremely clear and it offered plenty of gain without going full. The tubes and the high input impedance made an NT2-A mic much crisper than with my FA-66. I also ran extensive tests to compare the tubefire with the FA-66 and found the tubefire offered more gain with relatively the same or less added noise. April 23, 2009 Music Background: Highly diversified musician, instrumentalist, instructor, composer/arranger, recordist Make sure you are well aware of the routing system before you buy as it is slightly atypical. The issue that caused me to send it back (twice - two different units) was that the headphone volume knob was either slightly loud or extremely loud. I don't have a lot of equipment, otherwise it would be easy to bypass the problem with a headphone amp or mixer, or just using a different interface while mixing/monitoring. It's possible I just got two bad headphone knobs, but unlikely. So unless you're insanely picky like me, the unit is a total steal! close [-] Excellent Sounding Pres
by Todd Hooge from Victoria, BC Canada
I recently tested the Tubefire8 pres against my Mackie Onyx pres on a 1640. I tested with vocals, hand drum, and acoustic guitar at 96/24. At the end of the day, they sounded more organic and natural than the Mackie pres. April 2, 2008 Music Background: Overall I was very impressed with the sound and would prefer them on vocals over the Onyx pres. When you consider the cost per pre and the feature set, you really can't go wrong. close [-] Sweetwater Advice
Mike ConyersThe ART TubeFire8 is an awesome piece for the price. Eight tube-driven balanced inputs, eight balanced analog outputs, a word clock connection, and it can be used as a stand-alone audio interface as well via FireWire? That's an incredible value no matter how you look at it! Tubefire 8 review

The Tubefire 8 is a great sounding ingerface. but where it lacks in quality is the drivers. The unit would always loose connection in cubase in my loaptop and my desktop. This happened every second ... read more [+]day i was recording. another strange thing that happened was that the unit was just creating noise with no signal at all. When it works it works great but the drivers are very finicky. The one i was using was a rental but that is totally unacceptable. I am now looking to buy a focusrite 40 close [-]
