I needed a virtual instrument that provided a mix of orchestral and pop/rock sounds. My Sweetwater sales engineer recommended this product, so I ordered it. I thought it would work well with Sibelius ... read more [+]7.0. Unfortunately, it was bad choice for me. April 9, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist I run Sibelius as a 64 bit program in Windows 7. Most of the VST plug-ins that are included in this program (and listed in the accompanying product description) are *** 32 bit only ***. (So, buyer beware!) Sibelius running in 64 bit mode doesn't see the VST plug-ins – at all. (Sibelius running in 32 bit mode does see the VST plug-ins, however.) There is software called Jbridge available via the internet from a private developer, however, that will "convert" the 32 bit VST plug-ins so they can be seen in 64 bit programs such Sibelius. But, if you use -- or are planning to use -- 64 bit audio software such as Sibelius or the forthcoming Pro Tools 11, it seems to me that you should purchase 32 bit / 64 bit capable software (VST plug-ins, etc.), instead of outdated 32 bit only technology such as this. (That is, don't make the mistake I made.) Unfortunately, manufacturers don't always explicitly state whether their software or plug-ins are 32 bit / 64 bit capable. It takes some detective work. Some examples of 32 bit / 64 bit software (based upon my research this past weekend) include Native Instruments' Kontakt player, the Garritan player (for its product line), and the East West virtual instrument (for its product line). By buying 32 bit / 64 bit software, you reward manufacturers for investing in the resources needed to convert their software from 32 bit only. By purchasing outdated 32 bit software such as this product, by contrast, you reward the manufacturer for not investing in updating its product. close [-] Also popular
