M-Audio Torq Conectiv Vinyl / CD Pack ReviewsSweetwater Advice
Scott DeMarko
M-Audio just took the laundry list of things DJs are looking for and came out with one the most exciting new products for DJs and remix artists this year! With Conectiv you can connect to any 3rd-party-compatible program such as Traktor, you can ReWire into Live, and even use the interface for Pro Tools M-Powered! Conectiv also comes with one of the most feature-rich and advanced DJ programs called Torq. With incredible effects built in and the ability to load VST effects, looping capabilities, 16 sample banks that are instantly recallable, full MIDI control by devices such as a Trigger Finger, the options available for DJ and remix artists are incredible. To top it off, this Conectiv kit also includes time-coded control CDs and vinyl that emulate the way a DJ would work with real turntables and CD players. I have to say I am highly impressed with the combination of this platform, hardware, and software. For the price you would be crazy not to add it to your arsenal. After working with Serato for the last few years, the vinyl emulation of Torq/Conectiv is incredibly accurate, and right on par with Serato. The added bonus is now you can use this standalone or with control records/CDs and even with a 3rd-party application via ReWire or using Conectiv as the audio interface. HUUUGGGEEE!

This is a great new way to work with your digital music. You can create dance floor-filling mixes with or without the use of your external turntables and mixer. Whether you're playing out live or needing to get your vocals onto vinyl for studio scratching and production, this is a great tool to have. Now, with ReWire support, you can get your mixes or scratches right into your favorite sequencer!!
Customer Reviewsfrom Indianapolis, IN October 27, 2009 Music Background: Producer/Engineer, DJ; Smooth Jazz. R&B, Rap Just as good as Serato! Save yourself some money!MacBook Pro 4.16GHz 4GB RAM, 10.4.11 OSXI've been a user of Torq since 2007 and have not been disappointed, especially with the new 1.52 update. M-Audio is known for making quality yet affordable products and they didn't miss a beat with this software. Being a DJ the only drawback to Torq is that most clubs aren't set up for but easy get around-bring the interface with you. Truthfully it has more features than Serato because of the new anchor points and elastiq time stretching features. You can quicksize loops similar to the pioneer cdj 1000 but all in Torq. Also, the 16 cell sampler is sweet and the QS allows you to cut up samples or trigger them in sample mode. Sample mode can be mapped to computer keys if you don't have a trig device or not enough ports on your laptop. Also know that the connectiv interface has to be directly plugged into the usb port not a hub or it won't work correctly. You can also import VST's if using windows or VSTi's for those that have Macs (and VSTi's..who makes these anymore?). Unfortunately AU plug-in won't work only VST's. So IMO, TORQ IS THE BOMBAY! Do yourself a favor and buy it for yourself. from Detroit February 27, 2009 Music Background: electronic musician decentIf your looking to gig parties look elsewhere. Too many bugs with the program, even the new version that just came out. Using the hardware with different software like deckadance or virtual dj makes the experience much better with fewer or no skips. If your serious about doing parties outside in the real world, save your money on traktor or serato.from ypsilanti mi June 15, 2010 Music Background: guitar player,dj,radio school student not as good as serato!bought the m audio conectiv and i was dissapointed to say the least. it would not boot up to my computer and i'm still trying to figure out why.do'nt buy it if you think it is as good as serato because you will be as disappointed as me
