Its solid top crafted from beautiful Adirondack spruce, while quality cocobolo is used for the back and sides. The Peruvian mahogany neck is topped with a premium ebony fingerboard (which is adorned with beautiful bird inlays), and the top features gorgeous maple purfling. As visually elegant as the Tonare Grand is, however, it's even better when you pick it up and play it! Two years of playing the Tonare Grand. I fell in love with this thing when i first heard it. That sound was wonderful, but, in reality, pales in comparison to what it is now. May 24, 2010 Music Background: long time amateur. i was playing through an acoustic amp the other day. i had been listening to a song through a bose ipod player, then i turned off the bose and p... read more [+]layed the song on a tonare grand through an acoustic amp. someone came over to the bose (by mistake, since i was playing through a different amp next to it), and listened to ONE guitar playing, and asked about the strings and cellos that were playing on the ipod. my wife told her that there was only one guitar, but the lady said that she was hearing the other strings coming over the speaker. again, ONE guitar. but one guitar with unreal sustain, complex tones, delicate voice(and this from a pretty jumbo guitar), and single note dispersion over chords. ONE guitar. this is how a tonare grand sounds. If God is a guitarist, this is what he plays. close [-] unbelievable
