The Tiny Terror from Orange puts 15 watts of British tube amp awesomeness at your disposal — along with an amazing array of tonal versatility. Such an amazing amp! If you think 15 watts isn't a lot your wrong. All tube and mighty! Loud enough for most venues. Only thing better in my opinion is the Dual terror.

Let me start by saying I like the Tiny Terror, a lot. In fact, this is the first review I've written for a retailer's website….so yes, you can say I'm excited about this product.February 15, 2011 Music Background: Semi-pro producer, songwriter This i... read more [+]s my second low-wattage studio amp, the first being an Egnater Rebel-20. The Orange can't replace that amp, but it does its own thing extremely well and will definitely be getting a lot of use in my home studio. The bad: - The 7-watt switch doesn't seem to provide good tone at low volumes, which was disappointing. Really, it just makes the amp sound worse. - This amp isn't going to give you much variety. - The clean gain, to me, is vanilla and not worth using. And there's not much of it available. With that said, the good: Once you hit 10 or 11 o'clock on the gain knob something special happens--and it's all good from thereon. It's warm, organic, it breaks up beautifully, and it is 100% Orange tone for way less money than you'd expect to pay. The simplicity is wonderful: master, tone and gain. It's beyond easy to dial in great tone. Which, although doesn't offer much variety, can definitely be used on several different styles of music, from heavy to acoustic tracks. If you are looking for an extremely saturated tone, this thing will do it. Really-- if you drive the gain knob you might throw your current distortion pedal on Craigslist...really. On the other side of the spectrum, I was working on a Americana-folk track the other day. I doubled a fingerpicked acoustic guitar with an electric--a Tele through the TT with the gain set at about 11 O'Clock (mic'ed with an SM57, by the way). It sounded great--it added a warm and organic vibe that the track was missing. Finally, for what it's worth, the little lunchbox looks cool. So, if visual appeal is important to you in the studio or on stage, the TT should do it for you. To sum it up: This is tone you can get excited about at a price you can afford. For the money, this is a no brainer, and this amp definitely receives 5-stars for value. If this is your only amp, however, make sure you really like the British Orange tone. For what it's worth........I understand, too, that there are mods for this amp, if that's a road you want to travel down (check Google and YouTube). At the moment I am still honeymooning with my stock-TT, but it's nice to know the option is there down the road. close [-] Also popular
