A No-Nonsense, Professional Bass with Unmistakable Gretsch Vibe
Gretsch has been building unique guitars, basses and even amps going way back to the mid-1950s, all with an unmistakable vibe that carried through all the company's product line. Many of the '50s and '60s designs have become classics and are now being built again for today's players to rediscover. The Thunder Jet is a new, no-nonsense design that combines all the best features of those vintage Gretsches with some modern enhancements. It features a heavily chambered, mahogany semi-hollowbody design with dual TV Jones ThunderTron pickups, a laminated arched maple top and a one-piece mahogany neck, as well as the totally retro G-Cutout tailpiece and neo-classical thumbnail inlays. Naturally, it has all the vibe you'd expect from a Gretsch!

Gretsch Thunder Jet Bass Features at a Glance:
  • Heavily chambered, semi-hollowbody mahogany body with laminated maple top
  • Two TV Jones ThunderTron bass pickups
  • One-piece mahogany neck with bound ebony fingerboard and "thumbnail" inlays
  • Space Control bridge and G-Cutout tailpiece
  • Includes plush-lined deluxe hardshell case

Heavily chambered, semi-hollowbody mahogany body with laminated maple top
The Gretsch Thunder Jet Bass is based on the classic G6128 Duo Jet body design. It features a heavily chambered, semi-hollowbody design made from select mahogany with an arched, laminated maple top. This design gives you all the tonal benefits of the mahogany and maple design, but without the extra weight you might expect. Perfect for bass players looking for a stage-ready bass with Gretsch vibe and plenty of versatility for any style of music.

Two TV Jones ThunderTron bass pickups
TV Jones pickups accurately reproduce the distinctive look and sound of the very best classic Gretsch pickups. The Thunder Bass is shipped fully loaded with a pair of TV Jones ThunderTron bass pickups, a three-position toggle switch, two volume controls (one for the bridge pickup and the other for the neck pickup) plus a master volume and master tone.

One-piece mahogany neck with bound ebony fingerboard and "thumbnail" inlays
In true Gretsch fashion, the Thunder Bass comes standard with a solid, one-piece mahogany neck with a fully bound ebony fingerboard, perfectly complemented by the neo-classical "thumbnail" position inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets.
Space Control bridge, "G" arrow knobs and G-Cutout tailpiece
It wouldn't be a Gretsch without those little extra touches you've come to expect. These include the patented Space Control bridge on an ebony base along with the totally cool, "G" arrow knobs and chrome G-Cutout tailpiece. Up on stage you're not only making music, you're also making a fashion statement. Also guaranteed to turn heads in the studio.

Includes plush-lined deluxe hardshell case
The original Gretsch instruments came without a case. But today's Thunder Jet Bass comes standard with a deluxe, plush-lined hardshell case for maximum protection of your investment between gigs.

Gretsch Thunder Jet Bass Features:
  • Color: Mahogany stain with black top
  • No. of Strings: 4

  • Neck: One-piece mahogany

Gretsch's "Stealth Bomber" bass rocks the house and oozes that Gretsch vibe!

Sweetwater Expert Advice

"If you are truly ready to notch things up and add that rockabilly, psychobilly, surf rock, rat rod, acid country sound to the band, get the Thunder Jet. If you've been dying to get out from behind your upright bass and show your guitar player who is the baddest bassist around, get the Thunder Jet! This has to be my favorite bass in our entire selection. It's sexy, dark, and mean. The perfect compliment to this is an Ampeg SVT Classic. Gretsch dominates this world of music I listed above. It always has and always will. Do your band and yourself a favor and pick up this bass!"
Carson McClain

"This is one of those "sleeper" basses that too few people know about. The short scale length and chambered body make it more comfortable than any other bass I've played, and lend it an incredible vintage thump. What a cool bass, and what a signature tone. You will not go unnoticed with this!"
Nate Edwards
