Great Speaker specially for Metal

This speaker sounds great If this is the response of Eminemce to the Celestion Vintage 30 I think that they are doing a really great job. I combined thisnspeaker with the Eminence Dv77 and My 2x12 cabinet sounds amazing.

Great for Metal

Built a new 1x12 sealed cab based on the rough dimensions of the Orange PPC112 cab. Using a Peavey 6505MH mini head and it sound great. I play primarily metal and this speaker has enough low end to compete with my 4x12. Plenty loud with the mini head too. Purchased the 16ohm through special order.

Very overlooked high gain speaker

I bought a used 212 cab to put some DV-77s in last year and it had a pair of Eminence Governors in them. I already had a few other speakers including Swamp Thang, CV-75, and the just released DV-77s. I basically swapped them out as soon as I got home and put in the DV-77 and ST. After struggling with clarity for a long time, I pulled out my drill and some SM57s and reamped a few riffs swapping through my whole collection of speakers. I was genuinely shocked when my favorites turned out to the Eminenece Governor and WGS Reaper 30. No one seems to talk about this speaker, but it blends well, stands up on its own in a 112 cab, and does the V30 thing but a lot smoother. Check it out if you're looking for something adjacent to those V30 tones but a lot cheaper. The WGS Reaper is also a hidden gem. I really don't find the audio samples I could find on YouTube to be terribly accurate with what these sound like btw. MUCH better in person.

Love the Govenor

Great - no better replacement for V30

Great speaker!

As I understand it, this is Eminence's version if a Vintage 30, and it is, in my opinion, superior. I have had V30's in several amps and cabs and always found them overly bright and a little harsh. The Governor has those elements tamed and is smoother and fuller sounding with a nice texture to it. I like it more all around. It is definitely similar to the V30, but for me, just a better speaker. I play Hill Country Blues and use a variety of Fender and Marshall amps run clean, sometimes with an overdrive pedal. I have used this in 1x12 and 2x12 cabs.
