Classic Vibe with So Much More

The EarthQuaker Devices The Depths V2 optical vibe effects pedal reminds us that there is nothing quite like the sound of a guitar going through a great vibe. This second-generation model is even better than the original, with an updated flexi switch that allows for either momentary or latching operation. The Depths V2 offers all the tones heard on such iconic songs as Robin Trower's "Bridge of Sighs" and Hendrix's "Machine Gun." It then adds Voice and Throb controls to take those sounds far into the future, and the 100% analog dry signal path and true bypass ensure your original guitar tone shines through. There aren't many vibe pedals with as much control as the EarthQuaker Devices The Depths V2.

Nails the classic vibe tones

"Breathe" and "Brain Damage" from The Dark Side of the Moon, Alter Bridge's "Blackbird" solo, Kenny Wayne Shepherd's "Blue on Black," and the aforementioned "Bridge of Sighs" are all stunning examples of what this pulsating effect can add to your tone. EarthQuaker Devices The Depths V2 is a great example of this, adding a three-dimensional swirl of new voices to your melodies and rhythms. The vibe was one of the first modulation effects, and it's still going strong as a must-have pedal for your board.

Powerful controls for creating your own vibe

Once you've got those iconic tones under your feet, you'll want to experiment to take your sound to new places. The Depths V2 offers Voice and Throb controls to deliver new voices to your vibe. Cranking the Throb control adds huge low-end pulsing. The Voice knob controls the overall performance of the pedal. Pushed, it delivers a fuller sound with more lows. Pull it back, and you'll hear a thinner, more mid-focused tone. In conjunction with the other controls, you'll be able to elicit sharp, stuttering effects all the way through molasses-slow warble.

Decent effects

Cant complain too much about this one. Does what it says it does but it's missing a little mojo. Definitely worth a demo. EQD makes some quality pedals.

Really cool Uni Vibe

I really enjoy playing this pedal. It sounds great and is more tweakable than your typical Uni Vibe. The throb and voice controls are welcome additions and can help get you into some new territory. The soft switch is really nice too and it has very little noise when clicked on. Highly recommend.

On a hunch

Was looking for a uni-vibe style pedal but more modern, bought this on a hunch. I use it all the time. Sounds great.

Great vibe

I'd been playing a deja vibe but wanted something warmer. This is it. Level knob means you can use it as a boost if you want. Has both a more chorusy flavor and vibrato tones depending on what you're feeling. The swirls are lush and psychedelic. Good times, give it a try!

My favorite sounding Univibe pedal

This is not the "best" univibe pedal on the market to me, overall as a total package. I would give that to the JHS Unicorn V2, simply because it has a tap tempo for dialing in the rate while the EQD Depths does not. Now, if EQD were to release a V3 with a tap tempo for the rate, I would buy it in a heartbeat. However, this pedal to me has undeniably the best sound of any univibe I have heard. It is fairly different in its approach to univibe - its more of what I would describe as an ambient univibe sound than a Jimi Hendrix univibe sound. Personally I like its sonic textures best, I just really wish it had a tap tempo knob. Being able to run the pedal at 18V for more dynamics and higher headroom is incredible too. Not many other pedals like that in this category.
Music background: 17 years of playing in school/church/theatre/open mic-nights, and coffee shops
