From Our Research Team:

Classic Tele Design, Hotter Tones

The FENDER® Standard Telecaster® solidbody electric guitar gives you that classic Tele® sound and feel you know and love, and adds some very cool improvements for modern players! The Standard Telecaster sports a pair of single-coil pickups voiced a bit hotter than standard, which works very well when you're cranking up for distorted tones. The wiring cavities are now shielded, giving you a big reduction in hum and quieter operation. This Tele features an alder body, a maple neck and fingerboard, and chrome hardware. Medium Jumbo frets make the Standard Telecaster easier to play than ever.

Fender Standard Telecaster Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Hotter pickups for smokin' tones
  • The simple beauty of a classic design
  • Why is Tele tone so legendary?

Hotter pickups for smokin' tones
Fender outfitted the Standard Telecaster with two single-coil pickups voiced hotter than what might be considered "standard" output. Why? They know that, although the Tele has been around a long time and has pleased a ton of players just fine, the added punch of hotter pickups would help the Standard Tele drive modern amps even better, giving you that classic Tele vibe while allowing you to kick your sound into overdrive. The control cavities are now shielded, giving you quieter operation. What's more, the modern C-shaped neck is topped with Medium Jumbo frets for even easier playing.

The simple beauty of a classic design
You've probably heard the story before: Leo Fender began designing and building his soon-to-be-iconic guitars over a half-century ago, even though he didn't play guitar himself. The Telecaster represents Fender's first real success, and the fact that it remains such a sought-after guitar today speaks volumes about its quality and playability. It's been copied countless times, tweaked, mutated, modified, gutted, and bedecked with extras, but the original always shines through. The Standard Telecaster continues this legacy by respecting the original while making it very suitable for the modern player.

Why is Tele tone so legendary?
Descended from one of the true "grandaddies" of guitar designs, the Standard Telecaster retains all the characteristics that make the Tele so popular across all musical genres. Its tone can range from articulate "chicken pickin'" cluck to warm sustain, crunchy power chords to crystal-clear chime. Only a handful of instruments stand out decade after decade, and the Tele's magical blend of playability, utility, and tone definitely puts it in among a select few.

Incredible Guitar

I purchased the Telecaster Standard and am extremely pleased with it to say the least. I did a side by side comparison with an American made Tele and I honestly couldn't tell the difference! Some wi... read more [+]ll argue, but if you can't hear the difference; why pay the extra. I did very little setup, just the normal snugging of screws and such, but the action is very nice. I like the shorter scale of the Tele as well. Very comfortable, although it took about three days before I began to appreciate the neck. The range of classic and modern Fender tones is very easy to achieve. Perfect tone playing country to classic rock to heavy metal. Sounds best with a genuine Fender amp. It has quickly become my newest best friend! close [-]

Great Guitar

Music Background: Many years, different instruments. No longer gigging. Hobby, good past time.
It's a great guitar for the price. Bigger frets , better sounding pickup's , less noise since my 2005 tele. I love this guitar. I Had to set the intonation which was way off. I was expecting it to be more of a blue, according to the computer pictures at Sweetwater and all over the internet. I changed the white pickguard to a clear pickguard with a piece of cloth under it, that had blue mixed with a color matching the guitar and a touch of glitter. Now it looks amazing while sounding great. The necks comfortable, plays well, good tele spank. I am very satisfied with the purchase. close [-]

Worthy of the Telecaster name

I just had to have a Telecaster in my collection, and I bought the Lake Placid Blue (MIM) tele; and have not put it down. The build quality, tone, set-up, everything about this guitar is top notch.... read more [+]r />
I compare it to my Fender (made in USA) Strat, and yes, there are a few very minor differences, but overall, there is little difference between the two. Yes, the Strat's pick-ups are better, but the Tele's tone is absolutely fantastic.

I play my MIM Tele more than my Strat (which cost twice as much). Do yourself a real favor and get one of these. You will never regret it. close [-]
