Fender Classic Player Telecaster Deluxe with Black Dove Pickups Reviews

Customer Reviewsfrom Spokane, WA October 23, 2009 Music Background: hobbyist great addition to the Telecaster familyCompared to my MIA Telecaster, the Black Dove is a little heavier. WIth the belly cut it is more comfortable to play.I was a little leery of buying a guitar I had never laid my hands on. I was familiar with the '72 Deluxe Reissue that this guitar basically is except for the pick ups ( more on them later). Nick, my sales engineer took it on a test drive for me and reported back to me. He gave me a good review and I ordered one. I tuned it up and plugged it in. Neck is nice, no problems. easy to tune, stays in tune, intonation seems spot on. Fit and finish is excellent except for a little varnish on the neck by the highest frets ( that's where I mark it down a bit). It's the pickups that make this guitar stand out. It's still twangy enough on the bridge pick up to sound like it's still a Telecaster. The neck pick up has much more bottom end. It can really growl with just turning the volume on the pick ups up. WIth my Seymour Duncan pedal and Blues Junior amp this guitar will sing and has lots of sustain. I was never a big humbucker fan but this gives you something different than a single coil will give you. You can cover a lot of music between my two Teles. I'm surprised this guitar isn't making a bigger splash.
