Legendary axe goes low
Fender's Blacktop Telecaster Baritone solidbody electric gives you the best of both worlds: earth-shaking low-tuned tones plus a legendary guitar design. Our Sweetwater Sales Engineers love this axe, and so will you! The Tele has been embraced by guitarists the world over for over six decades, and now you can elicit subterranean tones from it! The Blacktop Tele's long scale and fast-playing neck combine to give you an unbeatable sonic weapon - onstage, or in the studio.
Bigtime tonal versatility

This sonic elixer gets poured through a 5-way blade - giving you bigtime tonal versatility.
The Blacktop treatment
Fender's affordable Blacktop Series has expanded the sonic frontiers of classic Fender instruments by powering them with high-gain humbucking pickups. With its HSS pickup configuration, the Blacktop Telecaster Baritone gives you a broad palette of deep, rich, even aggressive tones to up the intensity of your music. The Blacktop treatment also includes unmistakable styling touches such as skirted amp knobs and a reversed control plate. And perhaps best of all, Blacktop Series instruments are amazingly affordable!

by Matt from Tampa, FLAs a music producer working on a wide variety of music I'm thrilled to have picked this up. I've been interested in a baritone for quite some time, and finally got around to it - I'm glad i did. It has a weight to its sound that is really solid, and higher notes ring out with a tone that simply can't be easily matched on a normal guitar.

What led me to pick this particular guitar was that I felt it was one of the better overall values - good looking, good brand, good features, and of course good sound.
The fit and finish are perfect, it may be MIM but the quality of the body and neck do not lag far behind American made models. The action is good, while the heavier string gauge takes a little getting used to, the action is nice. The electronics are good - the middle pickup and 5 way switch give a very good range of options. I'm often very critical of bridge pickups, but this one sounds pretty decent. They don't stack up to my custom made harmonic designs pickups but for a stock option on a relatively inexpensive guitar, they are very respectable.
the tuners could probably be a bit better, and it would have been a nice touch to offer a push/pull pot to split the humbucker into a single coil, but of course those are both relatively easy mods to do later if you like. For the price though, I don't find any real shortcomings in the guitar, and while I will probably make a few upgrades to it at some point, it plays and sounds nice right out of the box.
If you are looking for a super-sparkling tele spank, this is only going to get you part way there due to the low tuning, bridge style, and pickup choices. It has a little tele spank, but its not so much of a specialist as it is a jack-of-all-trades, meat & potatoes kind of guitar that will provide you endless possibilities in a wide range of settings close [-]
