Quality and Versatility!
by Christopher Paglia from Byfield, MA, October 2008
Music Background: Musician, Live & Recorded Sound.
When I was looking for a guitar about year and a half or so ago, I decided I wanted something that I could enjoy, and keep in the studio for clients and other musicians to record with. Since it would be used in the studio it needed to be versatile: Rock, Jazz, Country, everything. I narrowed it down to a few choices and after speaking to my Sweetwater sales rep I decided to give this one a try. Let's just keep it simple: Tone - full of it; Sustain - for hours; Feel - immediately comfortable; Flexibility - think yoga. Over the spring I produced a record for a local singer/songwriter. She came in with all her electric guitars and her rig. In the end she used this guitar for all the electrics. I am no longer in the market for a guitar, period!
CANT PUT IT DOWN
by lane Hagood from ARKANSAS, September 2007
Music Background: HOBBYIST
This has become my main guitar over the 6 years i have owned it. in that time i have bought and sold many others. This guitar consistently delivers.
PICKUPS.... noisless, i mean dead quiet. You can get a little, and i mean very little in the background with extremely high gain settings. They sound awesome. They may not have as much character as say Fralin tele pickups, but the do sound very good and with a wide variety of amps.
CONSTRUCTION......LIKE A TANK.. good detail where it counts. frets were leveled and finished better than american standard resulting in very noticable playng difference. you can get super low action if you want it.
tuners great, but although it has the staggard type that eliminate a string tree if fell it still needs it. small issue.
I would consider the sound to be a modern tele sound, not as nasal on the bridge as older pickup types or other models of tele. would also prefer a vintage U shaped neck, minor issue.
I have owned about 20 guitars. This is the only one i couldn't live without.
it plays country, rock and hi gain stuff all without the need for a noise suppersor. This is the only tele i have ever owned that didnt squeal like a pig whenever i hit an od box and it does it quietly on top of that. much more quiet that say even a humbucker. plays lighting fast!
If you are looking at tele's, this is what you want.
bad to the bone

i recieved the fender deluxe ash telecaster in november 2005. i used it for a couple of months before bringing it in for a professional set-up. i enjoyed the guitar, however, i probably would have went for the buddy guy strat in order to reach the 22 fret, also the SCN pickups weren't as bluesy as the lace sensors. my main problem is with MF the company i purchased it from. i recommend sweetwater because the inspect the merchandise before shipping.
my luthier noticed that the neck was shrunk and the frests sticking out the sides. i had noticed this myself, but i never owned a fender. also, one of the little bridge saddle springs was not set in all the way.
i returned the product with gold coverage after a couple of months of playing. it was warm to the feel and warm to the sound. however, i have had at least four dates of the product coming into musician's friends. it will be about five weeks if i am lucky before i get the guitar back.
also, they had no problem accepting my father's credit card from me (i expressed this to the salesperson as i do every salesperson), however, now that i asked for a different guitar, they had a problem. apparently, they broke federal law according to J. J stated i broke federal law. i stated that i was authorized to use that card. i had my father call in but she would not speak with him. i called again because my father is elderly and sick and he didn't have quite have the cohesive story for me to know what was going on. i called and hesitatingly spoke with M. M tried to straighten things out, he even broke the law by discussing an account that wasn't mine with me; thereby, violating the policies as discussed by J.
i spent 2 and one half hours on the phone. i've never had a problem using my father's credit card; i use it so shipping to his address (safer) isn't a problem.
i can't imagine under any circumstances that i would ever do business with musician's friend or any affiliate; they accuse me of violating federal law; which i did not, they violated their own polices however; they send a clearly defective product, and i have no idea if and when i will recieve a "good" guitar from them.
shame on them. if i ever buy again from them, shame on me.
