So, don't miss out - Moog's only making 1,000 of the Moog Taurus III.Moog Taurus III LTD Edition Bass Pedal Synthesizer at a Glance:
A LTD Edition, modern revival of a legend The original Moog Taurus I was produced from 1976-1981 and found favor with countless top musicians - it's been onstage with bands the likes of Pink Floyd, Genesis, Led Zeppelin, and, more recently, Weezer and Tool. It's an extremely fat synth, designed to be played with your feet - although how you bring it into your stage rig is entirely up to you. Moog brought back the Taurus just once in the 80s - the Taurus II - and now, 20 years later, they're bringing us the Taurus III. It's loaded with all the same classic sounds as the original Taurus I - the ones that built its legend - but features even more sounds for you to explore. But, Moog's only making 1,000 of this low-end beasts, so don't miss this limited chance to own one! Ultra-fat: 100% analog, based on original Taurus circuits The Moog Taurus III boasts a 100% analog sound engine, based entirely on the original Taurus I's circuits. It's got all that same ultra-fat sound that made it an instant-classic - the original presets VAR, TAURUS, TUBA, and BASS - but it features a total of 12 banks of 4 presets, for a total of 48 programmable bass sounds. An onboard arpeggiator has the ability to respond to tap tempo. What's more, there are Control Voltage (CV) inputs for Volume, Filter, Pitch, and Gate, so you can get seriously creative with your sound. Moog Taurus III LTD Edition Bass Pedal Synthesizer Features:

This is the real deal. I own a set of the original Moog Taurus Pedals. This beast does the same and more!. Big low end with gut punching lows. I used this live, and it shook the chairs. November 9, 2011 Music Background: Hobbyist, Home Studio/Recording, Musician A worthy successor to the Taurus I
by Rich Vega Norat from Miami, FL
I pre-ordered mine over a year before they became available for sale. Kept bugging my Sweetwater sales rep...are they in yet?? LOLDecember 3, 2010 Music Background: Pro Hobbyist Well, they finally arrived, and they sound great! I ow... read more [+]n a set of original 1978 Taurus I's so I know EXACTLY how they are supposed to sound. At first the firmware was a little buggy but Moog has made a few improvements. Probably the ones currently for sale have the latest firmware updates but potential buyers be aware that updating the firmware is a must. Pros: 1. Sound is 100% Moog Taurus 2. Faithful to Bob's original design layout 3. Wood paneling and aluminum back looks nice 4. Sturdily built with pride in the USA 5. Membership in 'da club' Cons: 1. The weight! This beast is as big and as heavy (if not heavier) than the original T1. Unfortunately, Moog has yet to offer a padded gig bag as an alternative to the road case ($499 OUCH!) so transport to gigs can be a real pain. To make matters worse, there is really no good handle to lift this thing by; you pretty much have to grab it by one of the black legs (the handle below the display is only to prevent your foot from accidentally kicking off the data knob, not for lifting). This is one area where I wish Moog would NOT have been quite as faithful to the original design! 2. Controls. Minor quirk#1 - In an effort to remain faithful to the original design, the silkscreen layout has replicated the original presets. However, IMO this wasn't such a great idea, since you have additional banks that, once activated, have nothing to do with the presets. Of course you have a large alpha display, which makes me wonder why the preset names were silkscreened on to begin with. Speaking of controls, USB is nice, but there is NO SOFTWARE EDITOR YET!!! which is almost unheard of by today's standards. So, unless you plan on putting yours on a tabletop, don't plan on doing a lot of custom preset editing if you have a bad back! (remember, its on the FLOOR!) 3. More Controls. The volume / control wheels (as opposed to the flat "sliders" on the original T1) look nice but in practice I find that they are quite difficult to adjust with any precision by foot. Since they are curved, the foot tends to roll over too far or too little. Although they seem sturdy enough, I find myself wishing that they had more of the "rollerbar" type design ala the older Boomerang phrase sampler pedal. 4. I/O Section. I really can't fathom why they didn't put some or all of the jacks on the rear recessed section, as opposed to the side, where they can be easily kicked or stepped upon. Despite the flaws, I still give it 4.5 stars because Moog is such a great company and the fact that this product was almost destined to not be released in the first place. close [-] Sweetwater Advice
