Numark TTUSB ReviewsSweetwater Advice
Scott DeMarko
This is the perfect mix of old school gear mixed in with new school technology. With a built-in USB interface, all you have to do to transfer that sample you were looking for, or that old song from your aged vinyl is plug and play. This unit is designed to work with most Macs and PCs and a variety of programs. On a PC you could start using Audacity as a program to record with. Later on perhaps Sonar or Cubase might be more to your liking. On a Mac, Logic or Digital Performer might be the solution. Whatever the program you decide to use to record with, the TTUSB will deliver an easy solution when it comes to transfering audio from vinyl records. In the words of Paris Hilton, "THATS HOT!"
Customer Reviewsfrom Boston, MA USA April 5, 2010 Music Background: Writer/Producer/Engineer A good, inexpensive home listening usb turntable.A cheap, functional turntable, good for all around listening. It has most of the selectable speeds you'd expect (sorry, no 78), and a pitch shift slider. It also comes replete with catridge/needle, so it's good to go out of the box. I personally prefer to record using phono jack outs into my interface, but the usb interface option works fine. Not suitable for any DJ applications, as it is a band-drive turntable, but great for listening at home. I've had mine about 3 years now, moved it twice, and it's held up fine (though I had to replace the needle after a few years. Parts can be found cheap on amazon). Overall, a good cheap turntable with some cool extra usb functionality. from Chicago, IL July 10, 2011 Music Background: Educator, Professional performer Numark TTUSBI bought the Numark TTUSB to transfer all of my record collection to my home computer. The set up went well and the instructions where clear. Getting the tone arm in correct balance was a little time consuming but workes well. The quality of turntable parts and audio tracks after transfer to iTunes is very good. I am not happy that the turntable gain knob which is very small and under the rear of the unit and nearly impossible to adjust with an album on the platter. It's also disappointing that no dust cover comes with the TTUSB and will have to be ordered separately. I tried the recommended Gator GMC 2222 dust cover originally for a mixer but found it unfriendly when putting it on or taking it off of the turntable and have since ordered the Numark plastic cover. The EZ software works OK. You will need to get a sample recording level before you begin the actual recording process as you cannot adjust this level once you begin. When the recording is done and you enter the Artist, Album and Track titles into the cells toggling with the tab button the order is slightly non sequential. If you click the next button on the EZ software window you cannot go back. The upload into iTunes works smoothly but you will have to manually enter any extra data in the separate columns after the upload. The 'Date' column after upload will not accept any information so I put this date information into the special 'comments' section so I know when the album was recorded and any personnel on the session. Finally , when I am recording into my computer through the USB connection and have the RCA cables plugged into my amplifier at the same time there is a high pitched whine that comes through the amp. When I unplug the RCA cable and just use the computer outs to the amp everything thing is fine. |
