Real Tube Tape Echo in a Reliable, Compact Package!

The Fulltone Tube Tape Echo gives you the real deal! No modeling or EQ-curve-and-modulation-based simulation here...this is authentic tape echo, complete with 12AX7 and 12AT7 tubes. The Tube Tape Echo uses an efficent, quiet, and compact DC motor to run its Fulltone ETC-1 tape cartridge for rich, shimmering tape echo in a brand-new unit that's built to last. You get a handwired audio path, plus three stereo modes for great 3D tones onstage or in the studio. If you ever wanted to hear the magic of true tape echo the way it was intended, you've got to hear the Tube Tape Echo!

Fulltone Tube Tape Echo Guitar Effect at a Glance:
  • The pinnacle of echo
  • Delay time
  • Tubes sound better

The pinnacle of echo
If you've ever played through a "healthy" Echoplex tape echo unit, you know that no delay (rackmount or pedal, analog or digital) can replicate its natural, warm, and shimmery tones. The downside? They could be noisy and unreliable. But now the folks at Fulltone come to the rescue with the Tube Tape Echo! It's dead-quiet, and they've completely re-vamped the electronics, the tape transport path, and even the tape cartridge itself! Now you can hit the stage or make tracks with authentic tape echo without fear!

Delay time
The Tube Tape Echo provides effects ranging from a quick slapback to over two seconds of delay. It includes a top panel-mounted dual speed toggle switch to choose between Hi-Speed and Lo-Speed operation. Hi-Speed gets you lots of highs, less bass, and a True Repeat without the pitch variation of the old Echoplex. Lo-Speed is warm, with lots of bass, less highs, and a slight "warble" that imparts a natural chorus effect made popular by artists such as Eric Johnson.

Tubes sound better
Fulltone uses real 12AX7 tubes for the Tube Tape Echo's Record and Playback functions (plus a 12AT7 in the Erase/Bias section), not to mention a handwired audio path. Why? Because it sounds better, and you'll know the difference immediately. The motors are different, too: you won't find those big, noisy AC units of yesteryear in this model; the servo-controlled high-torque DC motor used in the Tube Tape Echo is far more stable, plus, it's only one-fourth the size! Add proprietary tape heads for stellar sound quality, a Fulltone ETC-1 tape cartridge (made to last!), and a selection of three Stereo Out modes, and you've got yourself a modern classic echo unit!

Fulltone Tube Tape Echo Guitar Effect Features:
  • True tape echo
  • Tube power
  • Smaller, quieter, and more efficient DC motor
  • Handwired audio path
  • Three Stereo Out modes
  • Proprietary Erase, Record, and Playback tape heads
  • Fulltone ETC-1 tape cartridge
  • Includes Cordura gig bag

Why buy Fulltone?
Fulltone was founded in 1991 by session guitarist, composer, performer, and electronic tinkerer Michael Fuller. His pedals were born out of love for music and tone, as well as the frustration at the inconsistencies and the often fragile nature of vintage pedals. Fulltone pedals are 100% handmade in Southern California using the finest components, including custom-made 22-gauge copper wire with no tin coating, Fulltone-designed 3PDT switches, and custom-made brass shaft pots, mounted using Fulltone's proprietary "thru-PCB" method. The end result: Fulltone pedals are built to last and sound amazing.

Fulltone does it again. Known for nailing classic tunes in bulletproof packaging, the old Echoplex is brought back to life with the TTE. No digital or even analog delay pedal sounds this good. I think I got the first one of these Sweetwater took in. I've been waiting to try this unit out for ages. I run a recording studio and love watching someones face light up when I plug them into my vin... read more [+]tage Echoplex. Troube with it is that it's noisy and the repeats are really dark, so it's really only perfect half the time. Now that the Fulltone is here I have so much more flexibility. I can choose fast speed for a really accurate repeat (great for slapback when I'm mixing a vocal) or slow speed, which gets that slight chorus warble that the echo plax is famous for on it's repeats. The tube drive on this unit is outstanding. It turned my telecaster into a hell-beast of creamy tube drive.
This unit has so many cool sounds, and it even comes with a great gig bag that has wooden sides.
I can't wait to play this unit live, it will be a big improvement from my Memory Man. close [-]

Sweetwater Advice

Brian Cravens
I have owned two vintage Echoplexes, both came with no electronics tech, but they needed one. They were in the shop regularly. The TTE doesn't NEED a tech, and it works flawlessly. The sound is way better than my worn-out tape heads on the vintage unit. Experience the difference this box can make for your setup. Fulltone hit a home run here!
