Customer Reviewsfrom August 30, 2011Music Background: Engineer, Musician Awesome BuyAt this price point it does not get any better than this. The microphone is solidly built and has about every option you would need. The small cardiod capsule is very tight in its pick up range IMO which is a plus if your having to record more two or more sources in close proximity. The omni capsule is nice and clear and would work well in a variety of situations. The LD capsule is just an awesome addition and adds a ton of variation to your micing options. The variable voltage control to control the sound of the tubes is like icing on the cake. The sound of these mics is very much Chameleon Labs (if you have heard their pres then you will know what I mean) The sound is very full, clear and detailed. Not quite as breathy as some mics in the very top end but this is a tube mic mind you and the top end is still very smooth. Occasionally it might be a little lacking in the upper mids but that could easily depend on the source. The case is solidly built, the shock mount isn't flimsy, and the power cables is a good quality cable. In addition, if you are one of those lucky people who owns any of the old AKG capsules then you can get the adapter to fit those capulses on this this mic! All in all this is a great microphone set for the money and one that I never plan on selling. If you can afford it then I highly suggest getting a pair of these babies for overhead and stereo pair duty. My pair is sequential and I couldn't be happier
