The Bomb
by PeteRock from Philly Born and Bread, June 2008
Music Background: Recording, Live Sound, Keys, Bass, Drums
Could not believe what this thing could do. It took a while to get the hang of how to use it and at first it seemed like it was just ok. But now I can say after owning it for a year, this thing is the BOMB!! It has so many internal sound effects and the ability to mix and match them. I haven't even touched the editing/sequencer portion (not really interested since I have a DAW already) and it never ceases to amaze me. I currently play in a Rock cover band, playing anything from Joan Jett, to the Beatles, to Ween, to Velvet Revolver, to Heart, to Led Zeppelin, etc. AND I've yet to hit a song that I couldn't almost perfectly match the key sounds and a lot of times other instruments as well. I can also say it is very rugged, yet light weight. Point to make here, worth every penny... Why spend more or less?? YOur really not gonna find a keyboard that can do this much for less, and why spend more on other keyboards, when this one can do just about everything you can come up with.... KORG ROCKS!!!
The Best

First of al why i give it 5 stars is the price!
Not one company give so much in only one keyboard, its al there:lots of very good(fully tweakable)sounds, very powerful and easy to use 16 channel sequencer,arpegiators...:i want to say is this:
for the price this is a very, very powerful workstation, most sounds are very professional and believe me,i now what i'm talking about;i own 12 synthesizers/workstations,the sounds from this Korg are trully great, and sure it has some flaws, like some people to,complaining about this and that!
I have nothing to complain!
The perfect machine does not exist, who can do it al!
everyday i use it;Korg is tha BEST!and KING!
Nice place to start.

Definitely a step up from the triton le. This is my first board. The sounds are descent, alot of which came from the later model boards It would have been nice if it came with the sample expansion. Overall with the editable synth patches, sequencer, and song mode, you are well on your way to produce whatever music you're into. Nice starter piece for start up producers.

Korg tr 61 the best for the budget/ the sounds of a professional key board
by Citty Lights from Albany NY USA, October 2006

this is a great all around key board much improved from the triton-le it has the sounds of the le and some sounds of the classic and the extreme, the interface is very easy to get around, the sounds are great you can edit them to how you like, I use this with a mpc 2000xl but you can add a sampler to this board to add more drum sounds, saving is very easy and I would never sell or trade this one un-less I was up grading to the extreme version. I would have to say that this is the best for the price.
Amazing Keyboard, Great Price!

I got my KORG TR on june 19th 06. This keyboard is amazing, the Organ, Piano, and Drum sounds are incredible, & the 16 track sequencer is just what I needed to record my music. It gives my music the perfect touch with its amazing sounds. I use it for recording at home and for playing with my band. I use it along with my T3 KORG. With these two keyboards, I can cover almost any variety of music I want. The KORG TR is more than perfect for its low price, I recommend it to anyone who has a tight budget.
Great Budget Synth

I just got my TR61 this past Saturday at 11:30AM by 3:00PM was ready for my gig the same night. An old KORG X3 user and KARMA owner the KORG interface has really stayed the same over the years just adding new technology over that, unlike YAMAHA that makes every Keyboard differently with very steep learning curves I also own a Motif6.
Preset sounds are awsome. Editing patches is a breeze, but then again I've been playing KORG instruments since the X3 which I recently retired to my studio since getting this little GEM. Don't need a patch editor for this machine it's that simple. If I put my X3, KARMA and TR manuals together side by side they are very similar.
Poly is 62 more than enough. Only hardware expansion is the Sampler option, might get that later. It does accept SD cards from 16MB to a whopping 1GB. Will also max out at 64MB of RAM.
Out of the box there are some great AC Pianos and Rhodes. Organs are kinda week but I can tweek those. Some of the Synths could be alittle stronger, but then again I can take care of that minor flaw. I'm in a 60s to 90s Band so all kinds of music will be played on this thing. Aftertouch and such typical KORG so no problems there as well.
Costruction is light, but I also take care of my gear and don't throw it around. I use 3 sets of Keys in my rig so I always have a back up.
I suppose you could call it a starter board for novice keyboard players, but I don't believe there is a such thing as a "Beginner Synth". They all have thier pros and cons. I prefer to call these keyboards budget keyboards as I bought mine because it was an affordable price. This keyboard can be used without a backup, though I prefer to use my KARMA and Motif6 to have unlimited variety.

ITS AIGHT
by James .aka. J-DUB from Gary,Indiana, April 2006
Well lets see, i bought mine back in February and so far im semi-satisfied with it. THe sounds are ok but you can tell that Korg limited some of the good TRITON sounds to keep the price of this keyboard down. The strings could have been better and brass too. Piano sounds are excellent and the drums are ok. But like I said, you would want to buy a triton rack to get the full effect. The sequncer is A-1. Thats top notch. I use it for production, rap and R&B
Gorgeous keyboard from Korg
by Cesar from Sammamish, Wa USA, March 2006
The sounds are just so amazing. I use it without editing because it is so perfect sounding. Now imagine editing the sounds! The Voice Scats with the Arpeggio Bossanova Style are unbelievable. I threw a party at home and played the Girl from Ipanema by using Voice Scats (Bank A, number 21) on the Korg TR, my Korg Pa50 arranger, and the Korg CX3 combo organ. What a combination! All my guests came up to me and asked how I could get such realistic sounds. Well, I just told them that the company that made my instruments is Korg, the cream of the crop!!!
