From Our Research Team:

A Classic Fender Bass with a Modern Twist!

Fender's Telecaster® Bass is back and better than ever. If you're looking for a classic-style bass with huge tone, you're going to love the FENDER® Modern Player Telecaster Bass. Unlike Tele-style basses of the past, the Modern Player Telecaster Bass features two rock-solid humbucking pickups, providing you with flexible and expressive tone. A C-shaped maple neck and traditional alder body feel great and provide you with plenty of pop. Vintage style "chrome-dome" control knobs and a 4-saddle bridge also add excellent touches of class to the Fender Modern Player Telecaster Bass.

Fender Modern Player Telecaster Bass Solidbody Electric Bass at a Glance:
  • The rebirth of a classic Fender bass
  • Twice the pickups, twice the tone
  • Tried-and-true tonewood combo

The rebirth of a classic Fender bass
Far from the new kid on the block, the Modern Player Telecaster Bass continues a 4-decade legacy of bass design. The first Telecaster Bass hit the market in May of 1968, reviving the look of the original '51 Precision Bass®, which was inspired by the original Telecaster guitar. Featuring an oversized Tele® body and a typical Tele headstock, the Telecaster Bass found favor particularly among rock bassists, ranging from Green Day's Mike Dirnt to Sting. At Sweetwater, we're excited to see this Fender classic make a comeback.

Twice the pickups, twice the tone
Here's where the Modern Player Telecaster Bass takes a major departure from the vintage Fender Tele Bass. The Modern Player Telecaster Bass features a pair of MASSIVE Wide Range Precision Bass® humbuckers. These powerful, high-mass dual-coil pickups give you extremely rich and 3-dimensional tone. What's more, they're positioned very close to the bridge and neck, allowing you to blend their distinct tones to get exactly the sound you want.

Tried-and-true tonewood combo
There's no arguing with Fender's age-old combination of alder and maple. The lightweight alder body gives the Modern Player Telecaster Bass a well-rounded tone, and you'll appreciate its how comfortable it is the first time you use this wonderful bass for a long gig. To give the Modern Player Telecaster Bass more snap, Fender also outfitted it with a maple neck and fingerboard. Together, these celebrated tonewoods give you the sound, look, and feel you want.

Fender Modern Player Tele Bass Solidbody Electric Bass Features:
  • A reissue of a classic late '60s Fender bass
  • Vintage body styling with modern appointments
  • 2 x high-mass Wide Range Precision Bass humbuckers for a wide range of tone
  • Comfortable alder body and C-shaped maple neck
  • Knurled "Chrome Dome" knobs and vintage-style 4-saddle bridge
