Serious sustain
The Schecter Synyster Gates Custom-S is all about sustain. There's two ways to juice sustain: pedals that modulate your guitar signal (nice try), and amp feedback (gratifying, but hard to control). Then there's Sustainiac, which gives you the best of both worlds by directly vibrating your guitar strings, simulating the effect of amp feedback, but with total control - and much more intensity.

Built to shred
The Schecter Synyster Gates Custom-S is a shredder's dream. Its 24 jumbo frets and flatter-than-Kansas ebony fingerboard give you crisp, snappy attack. Dense like maple, but with oilier pores, more brittle grain, and a stronger fundamental, ebony is the tonewood you want under your fretting fingers if you're shredding. Ebony boosts your pick attack with meaty, percussive overtones that mute out quickly, settling back into juicy sustain.
