Customer Reviewsfrom Grabill, IN July 24, 2011 Music Background: STUDENT survival kitAll the items are helpful when I am campingfrom Laramie,WY June 2, 2009 Music Background: Hobbyist Might Be Required to Have ItI was unware until I had made my first purchase of a keyboard that I was going to be needing a survival kit. I was notified that my power AC power supply did not come wit my keyboard and only with the survival kit. So beware of this and possibly be ready to add the extra price of the survival kit into your budjet.from San Francisco Bay Area, USA January 17, 2011 Music Background: Hobbyist Producer Basic Starter Kit, Quality QuestionableThis kit is adequate and has everything needed to get started with a Yamaha keyboard. However, the footswitch is especially cheap. It is a piece of folded plastic and a tiny plastic switch. Any serious "piano" style playing with the pedal as a sustain will probably break it, just like other reviewers have written. The headphones are reasonable for the price. Yamaha really should be giving the power adapter away with the purchase of their keyboards, but if not, then at least include a USB cable in this kit. Overall it does the job and gets everything started and the price is reasonable for what you get (which is why I gave an extra half-star rating). Any serious playing and I'd recommend a pedal upgrade to a proper Yamaha sustain or trigger. from Los Angeles CA USA May 30, 2009 Music Background: Songwriter Cheap pedalWhen buying a Yamaha keyboard I figured I needed a power adapter and footpedal, and the extended warranty might be nice. So I bought this kit. 4 months later, I have to buy a new footpedal; the one included with this kit doesn't have a hinge-and-spring arrangement, it has a flexible piece of plastic which your foot presses against the actual switch, and the plastic is so mushy that after ten minutes of playing it refuses to pop back up, so sustain is infinite. I suppose I could jam some kind of spring under it to force it back open, but what a bother. On the plus side, this pedal does not have any of the squeaks which apparently haunt some other pedals. This pedal stays put on carpet, and has soft rubber feet so seems like it might work OK on hard floors too. Haven't checked out the CD yet.
