Super \"Amp\"

I\'ve owned them all....... Fender, Marshall, Peavey, etc. My most recent amp from Sweetwater before my new Super Champ was a Fender Blues Deville. The problem for me is that it was a very powerful 60 watts/4-10 amp and much more than I needed. I play around the house and maybe out in small venues from time-to-time. The Fender Super Champ XD is an amazing little tube amp. With all the Voices and built-in effects, I could not ask for anything more, and at such a great price. For anyone who doesn\'t need \"turn that damn thing down\" loud, in my opinion it just doesn\'t get any better than the Fender Super Champ XD! I recommend it highly!

WHAT AN AMP!!

This amp is so versitile, that it can be used as a practice amp, or on stage. Small, but it packs a punch. It has such a crisp sound/edgy, and with the footswitch input, you can get just about any sound you want. Very full, and there is nothing like the sound of a tube amp especially when you want that bluesy sound. I actually like this amp better than my G-Dec. Excellent reverb. I highly recommend this amp to beginners, as well to professionals! Try it! I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I especially like it because it brings out that full Fender sound when I play my Telecaster (JA-90) through it. Wow! Edward Duquette

For the price you can't beat this amp. The amp is loud for a 15 watt rated amp. The amp models sound super and the effects are fantastic and adjustable, I love the spring reverb sound. The little guy seems solid and if it is as dependable as it's predocessors It will put China on the collectors map for amp making.

The most guitar amplifier $300 can buy

I have been looking for an inexpensive amp that I could use primarily for band rehearsal and maybe low volume practicing at home. I have a larger, high-end boutique rig for gigging, and I was getting tired of transporting a head, cabinet and pedal board to weekly rehearsals. Plus my main rig isn't capable of managable, late night, home-office volumes.

After doing a LOT of research, I figured the small 15-30 watt variety of solid state or modeling amps probably wouldn't cut it volume wise or tonally given my tastes, and for just a little bit more cash I would have 15 tube watts. Still somewhat skeptical of all of the rave reviews I kept seeing online, I purchased the amp from Sweetwater and sprang for the footswitch. I was quickly astonished by how much amplifier is packed into such a small, affordable package! The clean channel is wonderful, and while there are plenty of great tones on the second channel, I looked no further than #8. Between the two channels, I get sounds in the same basic ballpark as my big rig (Fendery cleans, Marshally overdrives) and am completely satisfied with this as a practice amp; so much so that this amp will now back up my big rig at gigs should something ever go wrong (and I would not hesitate to use this little monster mic'd up at smaller gigs - its that good).

Tone wise, the only minor gripe I have is that a better, more efficient 10" speaker would probably give the amp more beef and depth, but it still sounds very good when playing alone and even better when playing with others, where it will cut nicely through the mix. For a four-piece rock band I found myself running both channel volumes almost all the way up, but that was with this little amp on the floor facing my ankles, and I could still hear it plenty enough to hear myself and my leads still cut through the rest of the band. Had just angled this up or placed it on some kinf of amp stand I probably would have had to turn down (but I live for the sound of a cranked tube amp)!

The last thing I'll mention as a heads-up is that I was expecting this amp's 15 tube watts to be louder. When you compare this with a 22 watt Deluxe Reverb reissue (I used to own one), which also has two 6V6 output tubes (and a 12" speaker), on paper this amp should be close to it in volume when in reality the Deluxe is significantly louder. No doubt there are many other pieces to this equation, and while the amp is plenty loud for band rehearsals and mic'd-up gigs, it may not be as loud as you are thinking. On the other hand however, the tone you can get at very quiet late night at-home levels is fantastic and rivals anything I've heard in the pure solid state or digital realms. It sounds so good its just fun to play and it somehow just makes you want to keep playing.

Since I am somewhat of a tone hound, I will probably eventually swap tubes and the speaker to get just a little more volume and depth, but the amp truly sounds excellent right out of the box. It took me all of 90 seconds to have both channels sounding great. Guitar>cable>Super Champ XD>done!

Sweet Sounding Little Amp (Change the Speaker or add a 1X12 Cabinet)

This little amp sounds great out of the box, but man, hook up a single 12" 8 ohm cabinet, and this thing comes a live. I didn't want to lose the portability aspect,by having to take an extra cabinet everywhere, so I changed the speaker. I had an old 200 watt Carvin out of an old 805 speaker and installed that. That worked great. Really brought out the volume and bass. But then I installed the Ragin Cajin speaker. Man what punch, lots more volume, and more tone than you can imagine from this little amp. Did I say how loud this little guy is. No problem over the drums. It's hard to believe. I gave it 4.5 because of the speaker, if they put a really good speaker in it, it would be a 5. They would proably sell less Blues Jr amps if they did. Don't waste your money changing the tubes, the big difference comes from changing the speaker. Do that, crank it to 8 and be ready to be impressed. Plus, it aint gettin much cheaper than this! Also, lots of different tones from this thing. I really hear sounds from my guitar I didn't know I was making using my old tube amp. Maybe they wern't there before. Any how, This thing ROCKS! Buy the pedal too.

Massive BANG for your BUCK

For the money, this amp is REALLY hard to beat. Sure it's not perfect but remember the price tag. I have owned several amps over the past year..lets see, how about the LIne 6 Spider Valve at $699, The Fender Hot Rod Deluxe at $699, Blues Junior, some Hughes & Kettner amps, as well as a mesa boogie express at $1100.

For my money nothing can beat this little super champ! Channel 1 has the great Fender clean and the reverb, while digital sounds great. Click over to channel two and you have 16 amp models to choose from ranging from tweed models to british stacks to all out heavy metal.

At 15 watts this is a LOUD little amp as it has TUBES! Yes, a tube amp for around $300! The cleans are great, and a few of the other channel two models are superb. You also get effects such as delay, reverb, chorus, tremelo, etc.

The ONLY negative I can give this amp is it has a cheap speaker in it and the cabinet size makes it sound a tad boxy BUT it clearly kills the Vox Da30 I had and comes close to beating some of the $700 amps I have owned. For home and practice I believe you can not find a better amp. PLus it has classic fender looks!
Highly Recommended!

My first Fender Amp.

This is my first Fender Amp, Although I have owned a couple Tube amps before, I found this little guy packed with all kindsa tone! at first it seemed harsh and raspy, But I guess the tubes have to burn in for a couple hours cuzz after a few sessions it really came alive and had a nice warm sound on both channels. I primarily use four and fourteen on the DSP dial. I plan on swappin the speaker soon cuzz I hear it really helps at higher volumes.

Ninety-five percent of everything in this studio came from Sweetwater. My Sales Engineer is a lifesaver. I started working with him around 2005, talking to him about what my vision was for the studio. He was right there all the way.
