A Real Strat. Why Settle for Less?

When Leo FENDER® introduced the world to his newest creation, the Stratocaster®, nobody could possibly have known it would change the face of contemporary music forever. Now it's back to the basics! The fast-action maple neck, the comfort-contoured alder body, three single-coil pickups and standard synchronized tremolo - this is where the tradition began and still carries on today in the surprisingly playable, pleasantly affordable Standard Series Stratocaster®.

Fender Standard Stratocaster® Features at a Glance:
  • Lightweight alder body with three-ply white pickguard and shielded body cavities
  • Vintage Style tremolo with high mass bridge block
  • Three standard, single-coil Strat® pickups
  • Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with modern "C" shape and satin polyester finish

Lightweight alder body with three-ply white pickguard and shielded body cavities
It doesn't get any more basic than this. The Standard Series Stratocaster features a lightweight, "comfort contoured" alder body which has actually changed very little since the first Strats rolled off the production lines in 1954. However, this new version actually has shielded body cavities for reduced hum and quieter operation than you'd get with a vintage 1950s Strat®. A three-ply white pickguard completes the classic look. Oh, and that low sticker price is pretty nice, too.

Vintage Style tremolo with high mass bridge block
While there's no denying the fact that Leo Fender's guitar designs were an amazing blend of art and engineering, it was the erroneously named synchronized tremolo (it's actually a vibrato) that may well have been his most inspired bit of engineering. With it you could bend notes or even entire chords up or down without throwing the guitar out of tune. Even though Fender has continued to improve upon the tremolo, many players simply prefer the look and feel of the original. The Standard Strat comes with that vintage style tremolo, but adds a high mass bridge block for improved sustain and tone.

Three standard, single-coil Strat pickups
The Stratocaster was the first production line guitar with three pickups, and it's no surprise that this basic configuration is just as popular today as it was in 1954. So your new Standard Stratocaster comes from the factory with three standard Strat single-coil pickups with vintage style ceramic magnets. Way back in the 1950s and '60s, players had to carefully fiddle with their three-position blade switch to get those "in between" pickup combinations. Don't worry. Your new Standard Strat comes with a modern five-way blade switch for instant access to all the cool Strat tones.

Maple neck and rosewood fingerboard with modern "C" shape and satin polyester finish
Leo Fender wasn't a guitar player. In fact, he got his start repairing radios. So he had no idea that guitars weren't supposed to have maple necks. In time, those blond maple necks and fingerboards became a Fender trademark, though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards on most of its models. This Standard Strat has the maple neck, but adds the rosewood fingerboard for a warmer, more traditional sound, look and feel. In keeping with contemporary tastes, this Strat has a more modern "C" shape maple neck with a satin polyester finish.

This Is Too Good To Be A Mex Strat!

I bought this 4 months ago. After playing Ibanez's for the last several years,I needed a change of pace. So,I went out and bought this little bundle of joy.I would put this up against a American Standar... read more [+]d any day of the week. The upgrades that Fender has put on this guitar really make it stand out.The jumbo frets make string bending a breeze, and the thicker trem block allows for more sustain, while the shielded compartment gets rid of that annoying hum that used to be so prevailent on the older models.I do own and play other brands besides Fender, but this is the best guitar that I have ever owned. It stays in tune really good,no fret buzz, and most of all,the string height is perfect.I didn't have to do any adjustments at all, which is unusual. Most other guitars that I've bought in the past had needed some type of adjustment to them in order to suit me,but this one, hell no.She's a keeper, and is my no. 1! close [-]

I recieved this guitar as a gift a few years ago and was blown away how good of a guitar it was (especially since I have heard bad things about mex. strats). I didn't even need to have it set up; it w... read more [+]as ready for play right off the shelf. This guitar has a great overall tone, and soulds great clean or dirty. However, I have 2 warnings for this guitar: 1) Each individual model is different. I have played many different identical models but they all feel, sound, and play differently. With this said, you may want to play it before you buy it. 2) The single coils can be a bit noisy, especially with a long chain of effects, or with a highly distorted amp, so you may also want to invest in a quality noise reduction pedal like a G-String, etc. /// Overall this is a great guitar to have. close [-]
