Premium choice of woods
Fender held nothing back when designing the American Select Stratocaster. In fact, we've never seen a Strat like this at Sweetwater before. It's got a flame maple top, highlighted by a hand-stained finish. It's got a flame maple neck too, quartersawn for extreme strength. Even the flame maple fretboard has an extra dose of class you won't find on many guitars. And while these details look amazing, they all add to the incredibly rich tone of the American Select Stratocaster.

Custom electronics
The Fender American Select Strat's three single-coil pickups were wound and voiced specifically for the Select series. You won't find these pickups anywhere else. They're slightly overwound, for a lively output that's rich and vibrant - they're a perfect match for getting classic Strat tones from virtually any amplifier.

The Select neck
The neck is one of the most important aspects of any instrument, which is why the Fender American Select Stratocaster features a quartersawn maple neck. Besides looking good, the straight grain of quartersawn necks is about 50% more stable than plain-sawn necks, and less likely to warp, twist or shrink. You'll also love the playability and feel of the American Select Strat's contoured heel when you're playing higher up the fretboard. Down low, your fretting hand will appreciate the 9.5" radius that keeps things nice and comfortable for natural, relaxed arpeggio work.
