Fender Eric Johnson Stratocaster RW Features:
Fender Guitars You could easily make the case that Fender electric guitars were responsible - at least in great part - for the birth of modern rock 'n' roll. Originally designed to be easier to build, and thus more affordable, Leo Fender's masterpieces, which include classics like the Stratocaster (is there a more distinctive guitar shape in the world?), the Telecaster® and the original Precision Bass®, were at the core of a musical revolution that spawned everything from surf to country to punk! In the 1960s, when Fender guitars first hit bandstands and stages all around the country, it was astonishing to see that trademark Fender maple neck and fingerboard. Though the company eventually offered rosewood fingerboards as standard or optional on its entire line of instruments, those first"blonde" necks really shook things up. Others have picked up on the maple neck theme, but it's clearly yet another of Leo Fender's "firsts." Today, no other manufacturer can match Fender for the sheer number of options available throughout its entire line. While vintage Fenders can command astronomical prices, the company now has the widest range of quality instruments in the world. Fender instruments have been played and prized by some of the highest-profile players in music, including such luminaries as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Stevie Ray Vaughan - to name a just a few.

Reviewsbased on 1 reviewThe best Strat I own
by TucsonStrat from Tucson, the other Arizona
I already have 1956, 1958 and 1964 r/w Strats but I worry about taking them out of the house as the climate here is often so dry (like 8% r.h. at times) and it isn't unusual to have 35 degree temperat... read more [+]ure swings in a day. I do have a 90 Clapton Strat but with my smaller hands I find the neck shape awkward and tiring after awhile.February 20, 2011 Music Background: Playing guitar since 1967. Stopped by the local guitar store and played some Fender Custom Shop Strats but then I came across several E.J. Strats. While the specs say that the E.J. model has a 'soft V' neck profile it is softer than the Clapton and my left hand fit the neck well. The frets are fabulous on the r/w neck, and while I would have preferred to have the neck unbound the white binding wasn't a deal breaker. Very resonant body and neck. The special pickups are voiced quite well and perform through a variety of amps (Fender, Mesa, Fractal Axe), and having the bridge pickup wired to the tone control is quite useful. The bottom line is that I play this guitar quite a bit (I have other vintage Fender, Gibson, and Gretsch guitars) because I enjoy it so much, and am looking to buy another with the maple neck. Yes, the nitrocellulose finish will eventually show some weather-related wear but I believe it contributes to the great resonant tone you get. close [-] Also popular
