I have the maple neck version and after buying and selling guitars for 40 years I have finnally found my true love. This guitar just plain sings to you. It is a dream to play and the 2008 case is built like a tank with GREAT hinges and a REAL lock. If your going to get a strat save your money for this one it is the finest strat on the planet perhaps the best guitar available today- bar none! The tone is amazing and the S-1 switching can give you any tone you want..if you buy this it will be the best purchase you've ever mad and you will definetley NOT be dissapointed. Leaves all the other strats in the dust...In my 40 years of playing I have never played a sweeter guitar..Buy it and you will absolutely LOVE it!! close [-]

The tobacco sunburst is easily the best of the Deluxe finishes, even better than the 50th's! The ash's grain comes through the finish beautifully and makes this thing a real head turner, even to non-players.November 1, 2005 Music Background: As far as playing it goes, I simply can't imagine how it could be improved on! The action was dead solid perfect for me, I didn't tweak it at all. It's obvious alot of attention is paid to the frets and fingerboard as it is glass smooth and simply a dream to chord and bend on. The SCN pickups are a marvel! They deliver those classic Strat tones without the racket, and with increased sustain and punch. Paired with the S-1 switching system you get a whole world of new tones, and can come really danged close to humbucker sounds. Simply put, the American Deluxe Strats should be considered the "new classics", another benchmark in the history of this storied instrument. Add in the beauty and fabulous tonality of ash, and a finish that is simply gorgeous, and you get a guitar that you will probably put in the "keep'er forever" category, like I have! close [-]
